A nation run by a man
    With a ridicules plan
Helped by those who didn't care For their fellow man
    America didn't have a say
Not a common mans yea or nay
    What will happen now
will have to wait and see
maybe next time they will hear our plea

Obama made a campaign promise to overhaul health care. Everyone agreed that our healthcare system sucks. He had a solution and invited anyone who had a better idea. No one came forward. So the bill passed and there's a few who bitch and whine about it. So the bottom line is that Obama kept a campaign promise, so what's the problem?

I am glad that this nation heard my plea,
and the shouts of those around me...
who know that the health care that we see
    can be run very differently...
Conservatives claim that they are "the people" of this nation...
but it is time that they realize the reality of their station...
    America had a say...
Which is why the health care legislation is here to stay...

Now more people will be able to be
    a bit more like me....
and not have to worry about the doctors fee...

    At least as much...
for the VA isn't entirely free....
    just mostly...

      Mike
Very good poem! But I have an honest question, will the new health care plan be like social security? Will it come out of every ones pay checks? How is it supposed to be funded.

Take the pill grandma everything will be fine

You will feel no pain just close your eyes and die

You no longer produce and your life it is ending

No reason we should keep up the spending

We will always remember you in our heart

Do not worry grandma this is just a start

It is cheaper to end a life then to help one endure

Even the unborn's life is not so sure

Every country in the world that has some kind of universalized medical insurance/care program has to deal with compromise. In both Canada and the UK drugs are not covered, but most things usually are otherwise. This (trust me) is nevertheless a gigantic... a GIGANTIC... relief off of the minds of the citizens of those countries. In Britain there are lots of problems with the NHS, but God help me Britons would never, ever give it up. Same goes (in general) in Canada.

The people of the United States have deserved better for generations. Finally they may be roughly now on a par with so many other countries... in other words they may have a roughly equitable, roughly efficient system wherein profit does not override other considerations. (It'll never be perfect, but what you had before was one of the biggest travesties of the Western world... honest).

Tax payers are putting out a lot of money.... First off, there is a surtax that will be placed on wealthy Americans.... I have no problem with this. If I become wealthy, I will gladly pay my extra taxes...

Yet, our nation has a defense department budget of world conquest proportions..(thanks Immortal Technique)...and we are waging war all over the place.... Instead of opening bases in Columbia, or subsidizing the warmongering of Israel or this nation itself, I would cut the defense budget.

I am far from wealthy but I have no problem paying more in taxes to help those less fortunate than myself have health care coverage. Those who are only concerned about having to pay more taxes...this shows what kind of person you really are.

I do not think anyone would disagree that everyone should have access to healthcare.  Even paying more would not be such a bad thing for those that could definitely afford it.

I think the problem is once we allow govt to tell us what we must buy where will it end.

There is a precedent being set that goes far beyond simple healthcare.

Total control of every aspect of our lives is truly what is at stake.

I work for the Federal Government and I hear a lot of things most of the general public doesn't..Being employed where I am I won't say what I have heard but I can say it seems much of the controversy and uproar is really from assumptions and reports that are not fact.

Unless you've read and can understand the entire Bill (the whole 2500-plus pages of it from what I heard),  then I'm not even gonna ask you or any Government worker what the Bill says....
NO ONE can make heads or tails outta the stupid Bill, else they wouldn't even be arguing over it.

I coulda fixed the major problems in this country with a 2-page Bill that says OUST the entire stupid Administration and start over from scratch with a group of people who actually have some common sense.

Don't worry grandpa, your pain will end soon....
You are 96, and can't leave bed, let alone your room...
My father watches you, and hopes that he can avoid your fate...
He has no wish to live in a vegatative state..
The new health care plan does not include euthanasia...
    My father wishes it did...

My grandfather endures....in pain and suffering...without dignity, and without his faculties...

But, as the leader of a church, his health care is paid by his parishoners..... He would have been dead long ago..from his colon cancer that he survived....had he not been so fortunately covered... Now he lives....but wishes he could leave..

But the new health care plan will not let him off the hook so easily...

Have you read the whole 2500 page bill Brenda?

How many pages have you read?

Brenda Durhamposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Of course I haven't read it.
And it wouldn't matter if I just read PART of it, because the unread pages would of course twist what's in the read pages, since it's a liberal-inspired Bill.

How many pages have you read?

Oh never mind.   A liberal mind will interpret it however it wishes.   Anything coming out of the White House leadership at this point is slated for trash-agenda in the long run.

Betty bought some butter but the butter Betty bought was bitter, so Betty bought some better butter to make the bitter butter better;  but the bitter butter made the better butter bitter.

and a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

As I said,  there's nothing intentionally good coming from this current Administration.   If anything good DOES come from it,  it will be an accident.....or Divine intervention that protects the American people from total decline.

Brenda, for someone who tells others to read, it is great to know that you don't live up to your hype..

I don't prejudge what I haven't read....but what I have read of the Health Care plan, I didn't come across anything "stupid" or hard to understand.

But, again, I don't live in the Brenda Durham world......thankfully.
