I don't know if this has been covered; I did a quick look, but didn't find anything. I think it would be useful to allow us to include more than one 'ingredient' and 'instructions' capsules. I just started my first recipe hub, but had to abandon it for now, because I can't add a second 'ingredient' capsule for the other part of the recipe. It would be a lot less confusing to the reader, if I could break up the parts of the recipe, as they are made separately.
Oooohhh, I think I know the answer to this one!!
I just added a new text capsule with the title "Instructions" then turned on the numbering. Voila!
That will help with that, but to add the ingredients in a text capsule is a pain in the hind area.
PegCole is right. That's how I do most of my recipe hubs. It's not that hard.
And you can post multiple recipes in one hub.
Here's one of my hubs with multiple recipes capsules:
http://islandbites.hubpages.com/hub/Isl … n-Tostadas
I'm going to mark this day on my calendar! I'm right? whoo hoo!
Oh, and BTW, IslandBites, that recipe looks mighty good.
Would the addition of a second Heading in the existing ingredient capsules address this issue?
Would it make sense to support 3, 4, more?
That way you could still have only one ingredient capsule per Hub, but it would support multiple subsections, like sauce, pasta, etc.
Good idea Matthew. Some recipes do call for separate ingredients like sauces and toppings.
This seems like it makes sense for both the recipe ingredient and direction capsules.
That would work. I have been thinking over this since I posted it, trying to make it work. Thank you!!!
Yes, I agree that would be helpful for things like cake recipes where a second ingredient list is needed for frosting.
I think it would be good if you could use the recipe capsules more than once. I have hubs where I have included several recipes.
I believe the reason for that limitation is that allowing multiple capsules (or especially multiple recipes on one page), breaks the recipe microformat. Perhaps we could allow more flexibility and when it's not microformat compatible, just not use the microformat. The feat is that doing that potentialy makes things more confusing and complicated for people that *do* want the advantage of the microformat.
So, is it recommended that I take the recipes that I wrote in one Hub, and separate them into individual Hubs?
We discussed this in our community meeting.
As Paul Deeds mentioned above, the primary issue is that the micro-format for recipes is somewhat limiting in what it will accept as a recipe.
Any changes could affect a recipe actually showing up as such in search results.
The best practice is to make a Hub that is just one recipe.
For the case of sauce and other individual components, you could consider creating a recipe for the primary item and then another for the sauce.
The trouble with that approach, Matthew, is that a 'separate recipe' would need to be a separate hub...and then the two would not stay together as they needed to be, and would get widely torn asunder in search results...and the second component might not even draw any searches at all.
I like your idea of perhaps at least creating sub-heads within the ingredients capsule...

Okay, to start with, the features in the capsules we have are already pretty awesome, and my hat is off to the programmers for coming up with all these utilities. There is one additional feature that would be on my wish list, and that would be the option to "drag and drop" photo and map...

How about the ability to drag and move ingredients (and maybe even the directions) around like we're able to do when we are uploading several pics at at time? Sometimes I'll overlook an ingredient and have to copy and paste to move things around.

Don't know if this could be an easy addition or major update to HubPages, but I was hoping if there would be a way to add a capsule that is capable of being "printable."This would come in handy and very reader-friendly to viewers on Hubs such as Recipes. I could think of others as well,...

I'm completing my second recipe hub. Why can't we use more than one recipe capsule per hub? I could have used three. One for the pie rust, one for the cranberry-cherry filling, and one for the walnut crunch topping.

I've fallen into a hub strategy lately of composing the entire text of my hub in the HP editor (I don't always work from the same computer, so working with Word documents or other files would be a hindrance). I then break the text up based on my headings and give each one its own text capsule...
