My first hub is featured, yay! But I would like to add products to it to make more money w/o getting it defeatured for having spammy elements. Any advice from the pros? Thanks in advance!
You don't have to sell anything to make money on your hub. You can earn revenue from the ads that are placed by HubPages.
I have looked at your hub, and was trying to think of what types of products you could sell, and really couldn't think of any. Were you thinking of a Disney movie? I'm not sure that would relate very well.
Also, you didn't ask, but I am confused with the hub. You mention tigers, but the images are all of lions and so is the Disney movie.
Tiger images could work to monetize the hub from AllPosters or Zazzle, with a affiliate's account (create an account if you don't have one).
I saw the lion photos.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm no zoologist, but I know a lot about tigers and I do not want to mess with the photos and writing too much since it was already selected as a featured hub.
I am not a "zoologist" either.
Tigers vs Lions! (wow)
Changing your pictures from lions (irrelevant) to tigers (topic of hub) is hardly "messing with" it, one would think.
I confess to being more than a little confused about how writing about one animal while showing photos of a totally different animal is helpful to your readers and/or your reputation as someone who knows a lot about tigers... Especially as you hope to work for National Geographic one day, according to your bio?
Unless a product is very closely related to the topic of the hub & of clear benefit to readers, adding a product for the sole purpose "to make more money" is a fast route to unfeatured.
See http://blog.hubpages.com/2015/01/07/an- … -capsules/ on the HP blog for help on how to use product capsules in line with HP quality standards.
Thanks for the extra information flycatcherrr. A tiger poster shouldn't be too off the mark, what do you think?.
Umm, but that is a picture of a lion... ???
This Hub should not have any products. It is an informational page about tigers or lions and will likely not see any sales for products and could be defeatured for spammy elements.
I highly recommend updating this Hub. I believe your Hub is giving facts about lions, so you should change all mention of tigers to lions, e.g., wild tigers are found in Asia not Africa and don't have manes. Updating your Hub for accuracy will not cause it to become unfeatured. You are more likely to become unfeatured for engagement because inaccuracies in your Hub will be noticed by search engines and your Hub will not see much traffic. I highly recommend fact checking, adding more information, videos, etc. If you take some time, this Hub could be really good and informative. Good luck!
Oh my!! I did have a good giggle Quote from the hub "Another little known fact about tigers is that the female does all the hunting and cooking and child raising" didn't know tigers/lions could cook????
But seriously how did this get featured?
Quote from hub:
"Disney's The Lion King was a popular animated soap opera about a family of tigers."
Seems that somehow I missed the whole point of that film - no doubt misled by its title.
Engish-lion, I did not realize that tigers or lions cook. It is amazing what one learns on Hub Pages. Very informative!
If you want to add Amazon product, simply make them relevant to your hub. I didn't look at the hub, but if it's about tigers (or lions?) then maybe a product like an educational video, a national geographic video, a poster like the others mentioned...Only add one or two, and only add products that you would buy, or you think a reader would be interested in. Put some though into it
That avatar photo you use looks just like Mercy Olubunmi.
I thought you looked familiar.
I don't understand a hub about tigers, but photos of lions.
The Lion King tells the story of Simba, a young lion
Confusing for sure.
A hub on "tigers" ... that is illustrated with pictures of, and frequently mentions... lions.
What the...?
Either the writer of the Hub is extremely confused, or we are being trolled. I'm gonna go with Option #2.
All the animals look the same; it is hard to tell them apart.
The same person just posted a new hub titled "What Christian Bale buys from Amazon," and it's full of pictures and info about... George Clooney.
I stand by my earlier assessment. We're being trolled, people!!
Haha, this is hilarious! I feel duped though, since I tend to first give people the benefit of the doubt. I wonder who the real writer is -- a current or ex-hubber trying to rile us up?
The writing itself is not as bad as the "Exoctic Animals" author -- s/he even said s/he'd taken creative writing classes before joining Hubpages, while the "Exoctic Animals" person was just thinking of taking a creative writing class (hey, didn't she write something about tigers too???)
And "The Lion King" is mentioned in this hub as well....
Does someone seriously have that much extra time on their hands, to write hubs with photos that are not relevant to the text?
But there are many more published and featured (!) articles like this on the site written by people who aren't trolling and making a public scene. Why doesn't the QAP catch these hubs? Why does it take a 'performance' to get such hubs off the site?
You'd be amazed at the number of Hubs we do catch! These Hubs would not have been featured for long. If you do see low-quality Hubs, you are welcome to flag them and they will be assessed again. We are constantly working to make the QAP better, but it's not perfect. It takes the community to help us sometimes. Thanks!
Good question, Calculus Geometry - it takes a village to address things that could be handled with a more effective overall system.
But - I give props to HP's admins and Robin for monitoring this thread. And, it was entertaining.

Had never done a “sales” hub before so decided to try. Have tweaked and tweaked this hub but it still keeps on being not featured due to quality. Getting a little T’d . . . http://geminifox.hubpages.com/hub/Green … t-Friendly- Have every single one of the “goal” (attributes) boxes ticked off...

Hi Hubbers,I received one of those 'Your Article Could Be Featured!' emails - which, as you know means that they don't like something about your article. This is the 'advice' that was included:A moderator made the following suggestion for your Hub:Every product in the article should contain...

I recently published this hub...but it was not deemed of a high enough quality. Only trouble is, you get very little feedback to why that is. Would anyone care to hazard a guess for me? This is the first hub I have written that has not been featured. Here is the...

http://hubpages.com/my/hubs/stats?categ … ule=AmazonFolks, we really need to make a concerted effort to delete (or at least not display) those Amazon capsules we know to be in violation of QAP.The above link will hopefully help.

And why can't I add any Amazon capsules? If they're not allowed, then why are they even an option? The word count doesn't seem to matter because I can have over 2,000 words but have to remove them all before the hubs will become featured again. Either way, I like the color and...
