When you dispute an item on your credit report, they have 30 days to respond.  Is that 30 days, or 30 business days?  I know this might be a dumb question, but I want to know when to expect a response.

As far as I know, which isn't an incredible lot, when the credit companies need you to reply to them, days mean calendar days. When the credit companies decide they might want to talk to you, days mean business days.

They mean calendar days. According to the websites for Equifax and Transunion both list 30-45 days as their response time for disputes. The Fair Credit Reporting Act specifies the companies have 30 days from the time they receive your request, with a possible 15 extra if they receive other pertinent information from you. The goal is to get the info to you in a reasonably fast time.
