So I am writing a hub and thought I might play around with linking text. I read somewhere that people tend to click linked text more then ads. I am wondering how it would work if I highlight text about what I am hoping to sell and link it to the product on amazon (am logged in as affiliate)?
I suspect that since its not in a capsule it might not work as an affiliate sale. I know there are a few pro's here so I thought I should ask before trying it out and see what you guys have to say .
Also if I were to try this on a blog, where it should work fine, will a straight url work (when I am logged in as an affiliate)? Is the cookie assigned to me automatically in that url?
While waiting for a response I thought I would go see if I could find info on this on amazon itself, it looks like you can have linked text on a website or blog but it uses html code to create the text link.
I am such a newb to this techie stuff! I tend to learn by trying stuff out and seeing how it works, or doesn't work! Hub pages really has become like a playground for me to learn in .
If any expert wants to share tips on this techie stuff I would still love to hear it . For now and for this hub I think it would be folly to try a text link
Ahhh for the day when I earn from more then just adsense! That will be the day I move into blogs and websites for affiliate selling
If you try to post affiliate links to eBay or Amazon products in a text capsule on HubPages, it won't work.
You should be able to put them in posts on your own blog, though.
Or alternatively, you could create a blog that displays Amazon or eBay products, then hyperlink to that from your HubPages articles.
You can see that in action on my ballet Hubs which lead to my ballet site.
Actually I have done this with an Amazon text link. Check out my "Netbook vs Laptop" hub. If you scroll halfway down the page under the bullet points you will see where I did this. The linked text is "ASUS Eee PC 1000HE". I did have to modify the anchor text and remove this extra formatting:
width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />
before the /> from the end of the actual link, but it does go to the product and contains my tracker code. I can't see why it wouldn't work with another product. I am going to try this with another hub for Valentine's gifts using a couple of Commission Junction links.
I think Marisa is absolutely correct with regard to the "widgets", but I don't see a problem with the simple text links. And, I am by no means a pro, so if someone wants to correct any errors I've made, be my guest.
Simple text links to Amazon should work fine. However, since they are affiliate links you will only be allowed to include 2 per hub.
That is good to know, thanks for responding. One more question:
If I have a Valentine's Day hub, and have two affiliate links...say from Commission Junction, is there any issue with also including Amazon capsules?
I don't want an overly promotional flag, but my idea is going to be basically a list of gifts, so therefore the multiple options.
Thanks, now I know why I couldn't get mine to work!
There has just been a similar post to this, and I did a little digging, since this is something that interests me.
As it stands, I believe that you can have up to two affilaite links per hub, it doesn't matter if these are different or the same, you can only have two.
You can have as many amazon/ebay modules as you want ON TOP of the two affiliate links you place in the text.

Hi,I have other accounts here (this is my forum account). So far in the two days of Amazon earnings reports in the new HubPages-linked Amazon products, I only see products listed that I directly linked to. Usually I earn commission from products that were bought using my affiliate links...

Hey all,I posted this query in an older thread of mine with no joy. In retrospect, I probably should have posted the question independently:

I like to add in-text links when I'm talking about certain products as I not only think they are some of the most effective, but also some of the most helpful. What I don't understand is why there is a limit of 2 in-text amazon links whereas we can make a slew of Amazon links using the Amazon...

In the past I relied solely on Adsense to earn income from Hubpages, however this year I was able to finally open a PayPal account, so I signed up for the Hubpages Ad program. As expected, I saw a drop in my Adsense earnings, but now it's practically non-existent. I was earning a couple dollars...

Is a link to my own blog considered an affiliate link? I want to link from a Hubpages article I am writing to an article on my blog that further describes what I am writing about in the article.

In our most recent product review lenses, the Amazon product was the featured intro. photo. Can we continue to use those Amazon product images as our introduction photo or do we need to change them?
