   Well, I've been here 4 months, and I have posted 15 pretty solid hubs.  One of them even won the HugNuggets thingie one week.  I have not made one single penny.  I'm doing much better on RedGage and Helium, where they pay you for the number of times someone reads your stuff, rather than relying on a reader clicking an ad.  Anyone else?

      Hi,
      Keep at it and keep writing.  You will eventually reap the rewards.  The first year I earned very little BUT as of now I earn revenue almost every single day.  I have Hubs, Blogs, Websites and scoops, stories and posts all over the web.  I also feel writing about many different topics helps you get more visitors.  The more we write the more of an opportunity we have to earn.  I was in your shows at one time and most of us Hubbers were when they started writing Hubs online.  Here is a suggestion.  If I write a great Hub I will then write a great blog with new and original content about the same subject.  Now you have two URLs floating out in the web.  Then I create backlinks with revenue sharing websites such as shetoldme for an example.  Keep writing and keep grow and keep building on your business.  You got the hardest part over with which I feel in the beginning.  Good luck.

   I started seeing Amazon sales in my 5th month.
   
   I did earn a bit from AdSense right from the beginning, $1 to $3 dollars a month until my 5th month.
   
   Of course, I haven't been paid at all since the thresholds are both $100. I'm almost half way there in both accounts.

   I only looked at a couple of your hubs (and good job, btw), and I see two problems. First, your Google ads have nothing to do with your content. On your Firewood hub, for instance, the Google ads up there right now are for Indian clipart and picture editor software. It could be that your keywords are obscure and not enough people are placing ads for them, or it could be that Google is just having trouble really figuring out what your keywords are.
   
   Staying with the same hub, you're trying to sell a specific type of axe and some type of log splitter, but you don't tell the reader anywhere in the hub why they need them. Is there something special about that axe? What benefit is there in using a powered log splitter?

   Are your hubs getting traffic from search engines? Because that is the traffic that will mainly convert. If so, are you sure you have entered the right affiliate ID(s) in your affiliate settings?

   Are you writing with the goal of earning? 
   
   For instance I just looked over the titles of your Hubs, and it seems to me that a lot of them seem like blogs (aka just your thoughts) and not something with a retail need or focus.
   
   A lot of people starting out need somewhere between 50 and 100 Hubs and almost a year to start getting their revenue stream in shape.  There's a poll that might give you a better idea of how the community here is doing on my Hub about earnings,

      Spot on advice from someone who knows the process well! 
      
      I am really starting to benefit from work that I did up to a year and a half ago (although my accounts says I have only been here for a few months - this is just the one that I "talk" with).  Earning on HP is a process - it takes some time, some research, and a good bit of reevaluating everything that you do.
      
      Lurk around and read the forums and the hubs of the more "popular" writers here and you will get the right idea - and hopefully start to earn.

      do you recommend staying in one platform until it is going well, or splitting with others so get backlinks?  Realistically, I can write 1-2 in depth articles per week.

   I think the rule of the thumb here is - you earn $2 - $5 for every 1,000 impressions. If you are not within that range, then something might be wrong somewhere. When you look at Adsense account, how many impressions do you have for your hubs?

   Yeah I think you need to look for keywords which can gain you value.  I earn a lot more here than from otehr free writing services, including helium and redgage, both of which in my opinion pay too low an amount.
   
   Write articles which will bring in traffic, and then htink to yourself what people would want to buy who click on your hub.
   
   Adsense optimization is pretty spot on now, however Adsense also optimizes adverts on a personal level by parsing your past viewing history. this means that when you look at your own adverts, they may not be related to your content!

   You need to do some thinking. You can write hubs that have big traffic or hubs that have big earnings. Occasionally you can strike gold and get both!
   
   The biggest mistake people make is writing what you think people want to read, not what they're actually searching for.
   
   Also if you want to make money then look at additional ways to monetise your content. AdSense is OK, but earnings from affiliate programs or your own stuff will dwarf AdSense here.

      P.S. You also need to take massive action. 15 hubs won't earn much! I wrote 150 in 3 months, and even that only produces small change.
