Not utilizing my Impressions

Ok, so I have been here roughly 6 weeks. In those first 4 weeks I spent my time reading and learning and only published a few crappy hubs that got me about 20 Search Engine views a day. I got excited when I saw myself earning .01$ a day.

Anyway as I am sure you will go look at my hot hubs, I found a topic that exploded for me. I wrote 6-7 hubs on this topic and saw myself getting 6,000 - 7,000 views a day from google. So obviously this came with it a large amount of impressions. But no clicks.

I have a terrible CTR and I know why. When people look for my main articles, it includes two words that kill me. 'credit' and 'farming' which give me TERRIBLE ads that display on my page. I keep removing certain ones but I cant get rid of them all.

I feel like I have been blessed with a ton of traffic but am not using it correctly. Could anyone here give me any advise on what I am doing wrong or right. I am only making 1-2 $ a day with 4,000 impressions. HELP

    Thanks in Advance,
    Cordale

While a topic can be a highly searched for term it does not always mean that it is a buying term. Certain keywords have more commercial value and others though highly searched for are people just seeking info.

A great little tool to check and see if a keyword is a buying keyword (how ready people that search this term are to buy) search for" Microsoft Online Commercial Intent" which is a free tool that will tell you on a scale of 0.00-1 how likely people are to buy associated with that term. 1 being the best of course.

If it turns out that it is a good buying term then perhaps submit it to Extreme Hub Makeover here on the forum so that you can get recommendations for improving clicking probability. It may be as simple as you not including subtle persuasions or you are not making a convincing enough argument (once again done with ease) to compel people to need the product or service.

If it is a bad buying keyword then perhaps you may want to find a variant that is more buyer friendly, though that is hard to accomplish as your URL is already set and makes it an uphill battle to get it back up the search ranks for the new term, though I'm sure there are many people on here that would have some tips for how to accomplish that as well.

Good Luck  to you on this Cordale hope this was helpful!

It was! Thank you. I guess I am just generally looking for someone who writes about video games and see how they are doing it!

But thank you again, you lended me a new view on the subject.

I don't know if it's just that the topic doesn't convert well, or if it's that Google has no idea what you're talking about -- or both. I only looked at one hub, but I never saw the keyword "video game" at all, and "Xbox" didn't show up until the middle of the hub.

You have done pretty well with the keyword "Halo Reach." Unfortunately, advertisers are only bidding at maybe $0.05/click, which means you would only get a penny or two per click. And it's quite possible that there just aren't a lot of advertisers for that keyword. Maybe that's why your ads aren't targeted?

You just need to make sure you go after keywords that have traffic AND might make you some $$. Maybe you could try using a secondary keyword as well. At least "Halo 3 Xbox 360" advertisers are bidding at $0.63. smile

Yeah, possibly some Halo Reach advertisers will come along and help me out smile I just feel like I should be making 10 times as much money with the amount of traffic.
