   We've rolled out a feature that has been available for a couple of months to people just signing up: the ability to connect your Facebook account with your HubPages account. Please note that this is optional.
   
   Facebook Connect will allow you to log in to your HubPages account when you're signed in to your Facebook account, and log out of either to log out of both. You'll also be able to automatically be followed by your Facebook friends who are already on HubPages, and it will be a little easier to share your Hubs on Facebook after publishing them (a box will come up that will ask you to share).
   
   It is a reversible process, and you can disconnect just as easily as you connected.
   
   To connect, go to My Account > Profile > Facebook Connect
   
   If you see any bugs, please report them here with as much detail as you can. Thanks!

      It asks for my HP account and password, It says I do not have an HP account. Interesting because it is attached to my FB account. Are we giving access to FB with our information from HP? I really don't wish to provide my password to FB for HP, they have had to many security issues and I certainly do not wish to lose my HP account due to someone hacking into FB. Please advise, just a little confused.

         No, we do not provide any data to Facebook from your HubPages account. Where exactly were you seeing this, what had you clicked, and on what page?

            Then it asksa for HP login information and our direct password to HP.

               Oh, I see. Yes, that's just for HubPages, to know which HubPages account you're trying to connect to your Facebook account. You must have not been logged in to HubPages at the time.
               
               Your HubPages login information is not provided to Facebook; it's just to log you in and establish that you are who you say you are.

   I linked my FB and HP accounts last night. Went to profile page and just clicked the link it was so easy.
   
   Thanks for making it reversable too. That is a good idea if my friends don't like it.

      Recently another site made it mandatory to sign in using FaceBook access which gave them access to all my FB friends. I stopped using that site because of it.
      
      I mainly use FB to keep up with family and don't want to innundate them with a lot of notices or etc..
      
      Thanks for giving us an option.

         FB connect just means you can log in using you Facebook account. You don't need to give them any more info than you want. There is so much misinformation out there about Facebook.
         
         That said, I probably won't use it

       I love Facebook however I hope this doesn't become mandatory either...I will have to leave. I only use Facebook to connect with my close friends and family as we are scattered all over.
       
       This is the reason why I couldn't vote for Audrey in the last Hubpage tug-o-war contest...I couldn't figure out any way to vote other than through Facebook. My Facebook is for my private life, I have no desire to mix it with any writing platforms.
       
       So, I agree...I do hope this doesn't become mandatory.

    Ka-ching! Another cool feature for Hubbers to use and maximise! Cheers Jason, Tom and everyone at Hub Pages! And I am looking forward to Google + coming soon! Hub Pages is getting better all the time. Social Media is the friend of the Writer and publisher provided we know how to make them work harmoniously, and Hub Pages is succeeding here. Maybe other Social Media may be added at a future time too, who knows. We can't avoid integration of these platforms, as long as they respect our privacy and work to everyone's benefit.        No, although when you publish you'll be presented with a popup that will make it easier (it will save you a step).

    A few weeks ago, i might have found that somewhat interesting.
    
    Google+ has already caused me to abandon Twitter and Linkedin.  The minute Scrabble gets there, I'll be completely done with FB and already have stopped all updates.

    No,Izzy, it is against FB TOS to have more than one account. Some people do it, but if FB finds out they will cancel both your accounts.
    
    I think this is absolutely stupid. Most people want to keep work and private life separate. If they want to use FB for both purposes, they are forced into combining them.

       I don't object to the idea of social networking per se, I just want to be able to compartmentalise my online activities in the same way that I compartmentalise my real life activities.

    Yes, Izzy, I know a few people who have actually done it. All you need to do is create a separate e-mail address and then profile. I have one friend who then messaged all her non-family and real world friends and asked them to friend her on the new profile, leaving the old one for family, etc. (Takes a bit of work and time but entirely possible. )

    Both very useful replies, writeangled and Gordon. So you can, but you're not allowed to, as if they are going to know unless you tell them! And as for getting booted off, well it's a risk worth taking as i don't really use Facebook anyway except for promotion.

    I tried to set up a new account using my other main email account, but it seems they know that one too, so I'd need to make a new email up.
    I'm torn. I don't post much, but I do like to keep an eye on what family and friends are up to, otherwise I would just delete my main account (if I knew how to!)
    But it seems that this type of social networking is the future of the internet, so like it or lump it, it's here to stay.

          OK, I admit to being a Facebook refusenik (I had an account for, like, two weeks but then deactivated it and eventually deleted it fully).
          
          Just how good is this privacy setting? Would it let you hide the fact that you have a Facebook account at all, so that it wouldn't come up in search engine searches and people would only get to know that you had one if you actually invited them?
          
          Also from what I've read, Facebook's privacy settings are Byzantine and subject to "creep", i.e. they get less strong over time without the user knowing. It seems as though the price of Facebook membership is eternal vigilance - a price I'm not sure is worth paying for many of us.

       If you Google the matter, you will find some information on how people do it.
       
       I think the key is that you need to use separate browsers as well as separate email addresses for each account. You can generate any number of addresses at mail.com BTW
