Is the PS4 compatible with PS3 games?

    There is no backwards compatibility with the PS3 game discs.

    Best to keep your PS3 Phat/slim if you still want to play PS3 games. I'm thinking that PS3 games would too big in file size to become downloads on PSN store, I could be proven wrong though.

    I would've thought so especially if they both use Blu-Ray, but if Tonyx35 says otherwise I'm not going to argue. I know the X1 isn't backwards compatible with the X360 because of this (the former uses BR, the latter DVD), so the only way to get titles on that console from the previous one would be via download.

    Let's wait for more info before we say for sure though! ^^

      It mainly has to do with the difference in Processor tech IBM/Sony's Cell (PS3) vs AMD's  8-core computer processor (PS4). Pipe dream would be Sony building an emulator and putting it up on PSN.  The PS4 will still play Blu Ray and DVD video discs

    No, the Sony team has decided that backwards compatibility is just a way to show how they don't have any games for their new hardware because they were too dumb to get a lineup ready beforehand.
