What do you do when you are afraid?
How do you deal with fear of the unknown? Do you face it head on, find another way to overcome it, or avoid it all together?
It depends on the obstacle. Fear is associated with what is called a flight or fight response. You can choose to fight or flight. Your body changes physiologically to prepare you for such situations. We as humans have an innate ability to defend ourselves in unforseen circumstances. We have to trust our instincts and our judgement. The best response to a gruesome spectacle would be to run away from the stimulus. This means that your entire body has to be in line with a response that is towards one ultimatum - run away from harms way. Somehow, we are able to overcome the most difficult circumstances that may cost us our lives. And we do not know how. We just have to beleive we have what it takes to respond.
In the meantime, its best to avoid such situations. However, for the daily griddle at your job; thats a different story. Along with your relationships and other normal situations that occur as part of our daily life. Those we should not try to avoid. We become stronger by dealing with obstacles so we are better equipped to handle future situations. Its a win win.
However, we should choose our battles wisely as all battles are not worth the effort. Some may cost you your relationships and those whom you love. We should exercise due caution and never react in the heat of the moment. Exercise some logical sense and restraint.
Have an internal dialogue within yourself so that you compose and filter your frustration or anger. Raw energy never yields satisfactory outcomes. Even if you are a boxer. You still need to know your stamina and your endurance against the opponent. Great question.
I agree with usmlefacts, it depends on the obstacle. You never know how you are going to react to something that suddenly comes upon you. Certainly if is a fear that keeps you bound in some way, you need to face it. Through the times you face fear
I make a boring face and wait to let it go. Well and my muscles become stressed and heart beat increased.
Can't say I fear it since I learned to say, "OK, Lord...what's next?" Waiting to see what direction He's walking sometimes is difficult...like my current situation of no job and needing to move soon...but 32 years of watching Him operate reminds me I don't need to know what's next just yet...then I go do what's at hand...make coffee, write in my journals, type old journals into my computer, write on HubPages, take a walk, play Age of Wonders or Civil War Generals 2, and/or read free books on my Kindle, among other things.
Oswald Chambers once said, "Trust God and do the next thing." Pretty good advice, I'd say. Enjoy your day, dmop!!

Does the grace of God cover sin or the sinner? Must the sinner be repented to obtain grace? I am thinking of a situation where a sinner walks away from a car accident without a scratch. from the condition of the wreck, nobody should have survived it. Think of a sinner who is driving a car and...
