Gift Ideas for Him

The perennial question seems to be, “what do you get for the guy who has everything:?” Giftbuying can be challenging; especially when you don’t know someone as well as you might like. I find that even after 27 years with the same man, it doesn’t necessarily get any easier. So I’ve compiled a list of different gift ideas that just might appeal to the men on your gift list.

Stadium Seat

Let’s face it. Guys love their sporting events and live events are the best. But if you’re stuck in the cheap seats, sitting bleacher style for 2-3 hours, your back is going to be throbbing and distract you from the full enjoyment of the game. Enter the patented stadium chair. The chair itself is super light weight (less than 8 lbs) so it is completely portable. This little baby features soft cushioning beneath a sturdy canvas fabric. It is fully collapsible and fits on virtually any stadium bleacher. It can support from 350 to 400 lbs and is available in a variety of colors. You can also order custom printed chairs with your team’s logo. Be sure to check the websites if you're ordering, because some require a minimum of purchase of 6 chairs, while others allow you to order them individually.

Heated Seat/ Bench Warmer

Your winter sports enthusiast will love you for this one; especially if he’s into ice fishing. The heated seat cushion contains a self-contained battery that charges on 110VAC and begins warming when you connect two cords. It is fashioned to fit into newer style stadium chairs. The warmer is lightweight (only 2.4 lbs.) and water resistant. Best of all, the rechargeable batteries never need replacing. The unit heats to about 115 degrees F, and stays heated for 5-7 hours. It comes with a limited lifetime warranty and is available in a variety of colors and camouflage pattern.

Electric Ice Scraper

It can take forever until your car’s defroster heats up enough to actually melt the ice on the windshield. If you have to scrape on cold mornings, there are times when the ice is so thin that an ordinary scraper just isn’t that effective. The electric ice scraper plugs into your cigarette lighter and takes only a minute or two to heat up. Equipped with heated coils beneath the scraper, this little baby makes the task of scraping a lot more efficient, which is appreciated on those frigid winter mornings.

Car Care Package

One thing that most guys have in common is car ownership. They may drive very different automobiles, but in order to keep them safe and running, they need the same basic items. A great care package might include little things that can fit in the glove box such as a space blanket, flashlight, tire gauge, ice scraper, bottle of de-icer and a car care maintenance log. A box for the trunk might include a collapsible shovel, a fleece blanket, a bottle of antifreeze, a quart of oil (or up to 5 quarts), a can of turtle wax and a shammy cloth.

Golf Care Package

A lot of guys like to golf and those little odds and ends that are critical to the game’s success, can add up over time. Giving the golfer on your list a package full of these goodies will be much appreciated. Individually, they also make great stocking stuffers. Such items might include a box of balls, a pack of tees, a stroke counter, ball markers, a hand towel, and club covers. Balls and tees can often be special ordered to include personalized information such as the players name, motto, special date or other information.

Microbrew of the Month Club

Not all guys love beer, but many do, and microbrews are a huge step up from the cheap beer we all drank in college. Packages are available in 3, 6 or 12 month options or even a quarterly option. Shipping is free and you can include a personalized message that will be included upon shipping. Each month your guy will receive three bottles each of four varieties of microbrew. This is a total of 12 bottles each month!

Barbecue Care Package

It may be stereotypical, but guys and barbequing go together like guys and hot rods. Try putting together a unique care package including a pack of special grilling spices from Penzey’s Spices or a variety of marinades. You may also include grilling utensils such as tongs, spatulas, grilling fork, basting brush and a roll of aluminum foil.

Bar Care Package

Another primarily male past time is serving up the drinks at his own home bar. Fun items to place in a bar package might include shot glasses, stir sticks, garnish skewers, coasters, molded ice cube trays, and a variety of garnishes such as a jar of maraschino cherries or olives. You might also include a book of drink recipes, flag a favorite, and include all the items required to make that cocktail.
