Yes. In some cities the Christmas shopping season takes like 50 days.. that's one-and-a-half month in advance! They start decorating with Christmas decorations really early because they want you to buy stuff.
Yes! I notice the the superstores stock their Christmas crap earlier and earlier every year - now I see Christmas decorations along with Halloween costumes! And then, there's the 'Christmas in July extravaganza - ridiculous!
If you're talking about the buy this and buy that mentality and marketing in big cities and metropolitan areas its pretty commercialized. In small towns across the country not as blatant. It's been said Christmas is a feeling not an event and I would agree its better spiritually to think of Christmas not from the point of view of what is given and gotten. However when most people think of Christmas its a time to buy and frankly Christmas is now a seasonal industry, its not a bad thing when it comes to jobs. Many industries and livelihoods depend on robust Christmas purchases.
Yes.
And we are all to blame, supply and demand is what it is all about and if nobody bothered so much then it wouldn't be in our faces from August until February (post-Christmas Sales, next year's Christmas Hamperings etc )
It's December 30th and already I've spotted Easter Eggs .... no wonder the Seasons are out of whack !
:-)
Christmas is way to commercialized! Sad part is that society makes one feel guilty for not spending, spending, spending.

Is Christmas too commercialized these days?I find that children have expectations these days, what they should or want to have instead of being thankful for a gift. Do you think the media, advertisement tries to capitalized on it? Or are parents to be responsible? What happen to values?
