New Job, Sales Job, What Job?

Most of us have a job we either love or hate. Or we have a love/hate thing going on with our job, one minute we love it and then next we hate it. That is more like me, management jobs are hard and demanding but worth it at times. But we all know that employment is crucial for our lifestyle. During this job seach to find a new job, I always wonder if it’s worth changing jobs. We all think we can finding a new job, a better job that pays more, however, before you think the grass is greener on the other side, make sure you do your research first. Consider these factors and/or reasons when searching for a new job;

  • Do you need a new job that is more challenging, are you bored?
  • Do you want a position that allows for more advancement?
  • Increase your earnings? Management job too demanding?
  • What to move closer to your family?
  • Is it about making more money or are you dissatisfied with your work life?
  • Is it your manager?
  • Former colleagues that have moved on are happier?
  • Rumors of your company being sold or shut down?
  • You really don’t like your current position, what to do something else for a living?

Make sure you determine the root cause of why you want to leave and find a new job. If it’s money, then ask for a raise. Most employers will consider giving you a raise if you voice your opinion, with facts and with professionalism. As I said before, employment is cruical so before you leave your exisitng job for a new job, make sure you understand all the elements of why you are leaving.

Consider the wobbly economy as well, when doing your research. If you’re current company is in good shape, and then think before you leap. Start up companies may not be in as good as shape and you don’t want to put yourself in a position of not having a job. Unemployment is very high right now. so finding a new job with out having a job, can be rather difficult. However, sales jobs are the most abundant right now.

After you do your research, first find out if it’s worth changing to a new job. Sometimes, like me, it’s not worth leaving my job it’s about looking for other opportunities within the same company. That is part of determining the root cause of what’s wrong, is it me, it’s them, do I need a change or do I dislike what I am doing for a living? Once you find these answers then maybe it’s time to take the leap to greener pastures. Or maybe not.

Hey, this will go well with my hub (my 10 alternative career choices). LOL. I can see myself in this situation. I like my job but I hate certain things about it. And there are just some instances when I felt drained and I just wonder if it's really worth it. Maybe it's time for a little soul-searching on my own. Thanks for the great hub and the tips!
