Nintendo DSi

Introduction

The Nintendo DSi Has now had time to integrate itself in to the worlds handheld market, and boy has it dominated it. But now that everyone has the console itself I think it is around time we started looking at the software, more importantly, games, that are available for this most amazing device.

First and for most the Nintendo DSi game machine is not just for games, but primarily for games, this does bring in a couple of downside, such as the loss of the rumble pack, but nevertheless the DSi is an amazing gaming machine with some great Nintendo DSi Accessories!

I have also published a hub on the Top Ten Children's DSi Games for those of you with children!

Top Ten Games for Nintendo DSi

The Nintendo DSi has a huge range of available games, not only those that are created for the DSi, but those made for the Nintendo DS as well! This sheer number of games means that finding the best games from the overwhelming number of meagre titles can be next to impossible, fortunately with my top ten DSi games of 2009 you are sure to find at least one or two DSi titles in this list which tickle your fancy!

So here we go, from the platforms to the puzzlers, it's time to give you my top ten Nintendo DSi Games!

Top 10 DSi Game

New Super Mario Bros
New Super Mario Bros

Number 10 - New Super Mario Bros

The latest installment of the classic 2D platform game returns for the Nintendo DSi.  The New Super Mario Bros for the DSi easily gets in to my top ten DSi Games, but since it gives nothing more than new maps I haven't elevated it further than 10.

New Super Mario Bros for the Nintendo DSi does however have fantastic playability and easily helps while away a few hours of boredom!  Plus look out for new abilities, power ups and adventure ;)

Top Ten Nintendo DSi Games

Dr Kawashima's Brain Training
Dr Kawashima's Brain Training

Number 9 - Dr Kawashima's Brain Training

Dr Kawashima brings you a huge range of brain training puzzles for the Nintendo DSi, giving your brain the kind of work out which would make Mr Hawkin break a sweat.  Don't worry though, you shouldn't sprain any of the old thinking muscles as the good doctor takes you through a series of mind bending tests to find out what your mental age is.

This may seem like a weird thing to have in my top ten, but I guarentee you will find yourself addicted as you try to prove that your brain is infact more agile than a five year olds.

Top Ten Nintendo DSi Games

Big Bang Mini
Big Bang Mini

Number 8 - Big Bang Mini

Big Bang Mini is in the top ten Nintendo DSi games because it struck a cord with my gaming soul.  It is quick to learn and easy to pick up and put down, yet to really succeed at the game you have to master it's controls.

This game highlights what handheld consoles really are, pick up and play, switch this on, play for a while ,you will get in to it all in no time on this top Nintendo DSi game!

New Top Ten DSi Games

Dragon Quest V
Dragon Quest V

Number 7 - Dragon Quest V

The fifth in the series of the Dragon Quest games has taken nearly two decades to reach the American shores, but boy was it worth the wait.  The complexities of Dragon Quest for outshine Pokemon, although it does lack in other areas.  Dragon Quest V has made it in to my top DSi Games of 2009 with it's sheer playability and enjoyability.  you canot help but play Dragon Quest V for the DSi without missing first your lunch then your dinner!

Top Nintendo DSi Game 2009

Henry Hatsworth Puzzle
Henry Hatsworth Puzzle

Number 6 - Henry Hatsworth's Puzzle

This may seem a bit cartoonish but this new DSi game easily makes it in to my Top Ten DSi games simply because of its genuinely unique playstyle.  I am not sure how this cam about but on top of a 2D platform sword fighting game you also have tetris, at the same time, with some quirks.  This strange combination surprisingly works incredibly well, leaving you on your toes and never playing the same game twice.

So thank you Henry Hatsworth, and welcome to the Top Ten Nintendo DSi Games of 2009!

Top Nintendo DSi Games

Broken Sword DS Shadow of the Templars
Broken Sword DS Shadow of the Templars

Broken Sword, Shadow of the Templars

Broken Sword is the ultimate in point and click puzzle solving games, the intricacy and entertainment is in my opinion unbeatable by any other Nintendo DSi game.  For this reason Broken Sword DSi holds a high ranking in my top ten Nintendo DSi games,, and I thin that everybody should give this a shot.

Chances are once you have picked Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars up you will not be putting it down until you complete it, or collapse from exhaustion!

Top DSi Games

Final Fantasy IV 9
Final Fantasy IV 9

Number 4 - Final Fantasy IV

Mixing the RPG with a Dragon Quest/Pokemon mix of gameplay has left you with a more human, heartwrenching storyline. And that what really gives Final Fantasy IV DS it's real charm, it has a beautiful story line, great graphics and a beautifully easy to use control system.

The ninth inception of the Final fantasy line has left fans stunned with it's amazing playability and replayability. The characters and storylines really draw you in to the game, which was addictive enough to begin with.  I have no qualms about giving this awesome game a top spot in my Top Ten DSi Game rankings of 2009!

Grand Theft Auto China Town
Grand Theft Auto China Town

Number 3 - Grand Theft Auto China Town

Blood, Guts and Violence, what more could you ask for in a video game?

Grand Theft Auto Chinatown delivers it all, with stunning graphics, an array of weapons, vehicles and victims. The playability of this classic game GTA has not deminished with it's 3D incantations, and I can safely say this beautifuly designed game has a story line and playability which will keep you entertained for weeks on end!

Grand Theft Auto China Town is quite simply the best handheld version of this game I have ever played, if you like the series, buy it!

Top Ten DSi Games

Super Mario Cart DSi
Super Mario Cart DSi

Number 2 - Super Mario Cart DS

This classic game first appeared on the N64, and in it's crossover to the Nintendo DSi it has lost none of it's playability and none of it's charm!

This unbelievably addictive game lets you pit your racing skills against the computer or other players, either way you will be in for a wacky hilarious ride around the track with Sumper mario Cart for the Nintendo DSi!

Play this DSi game with your friends or lovedones, play fair or take shortcuts, and use a variety of different powerups to win the race!

The Number One DSi Game

Pokemon Platinum
Pokemon Platinum

Number One DSi Game - Pokemon Platinum

And here we Have it, the Number One Nintendo DSi Game - Pokemon Platinum!

Yes I know it's a rehash of old games, I know its been around since the first gameboy and I know that putting this as the number one Nintendo DSi Game makes me ever so slightly geekyish.  But the true fact of the matter is that Pokemon is one of the greatest and most addictive games to hit the handheld market, and the latest version only goes to improve what started off as a beautifully well made game.

So take your hats off to the number one of our top ten - Pokemon Platinum!

I would have to go with Mario for the dsi, this has been a great game and I have played this since I was 7 on the old Nintendos up to the latest dsi.

All games on the DS work on the DSi,there are not, as yet, any games released which will Only work on the DSi.

The reason for this is purely and simply because both the DS and DSi use nearly exactly the same technologies. In the future some new games may make use of the improved features in the DSi, however right now there is no point in putting off the hundreds of thousands of DS Customers.

I chose these as my top ten Nintendo DSi Games because they are the top ten games I use on my Nintendo DSi!

There are currently NO DSi titles that I know of out as yet. But there are 3 coming out in October in the UK which work on both the DS & DSi....all DS games do you say!

Well yes, they do. But these 3 games, when played on the DSi add something extra....they are called JIGAPIX Pets, JIGAPIX Wild World and JIGAPIX Wonderful World.

They are jigsaw puzzle games, and as per the name of the titles, they are jigsaws (and toher puzzles) of Pets, Wild Animals and Wonderful sights.

But....here's the clever bit....if you play them on the DSi, you have an extra option, which is to take a photo with the DSI camera, and make it into a jigsaw :-)

Sounds good eh!!!

for more info, watch for updates on the publishers facebook page, they are called Zushi Games Limited

i agree with mario kart being in the top three but to put pokemon first, it don't work. i'm surprised 'worms' isn't on there. also try Metroid prime hunter, not bad graphics or gameplay, i'd put 6th.

p.s. why not try doin a Wii top 10???

Describing how a game has elements mixed from two sources does not mean to say that it was created from those two sources, merely that it resembles them.

Dragon Quest has been around for a long time, I cannot remember exactly when pokemon came out, think it was around the same time as final fantasy VII though.
