Do you ever provide a real critique to a hub?
Some hubs have typos and obviously misspelled words. Other hubs have information that is not entirely correct. What about hubs you simply disagree with? Do you ever point these things out to help a fellow hubber with constructive criticism? Do you offer a different viewpoint? Do you just leave a positive or neutral comment as to not seem negative?
If I know someone is totally wrong on the informtion I usually do, and tell them where to look to correct it. Grammar I don't usually point out, because most of us could use help with our grammar. Also depends on what program we use to correct our grammar and spelling. Sometimes if it is something I am passionate about I will leave my different view point, but it usually would just harm them and cause argument. Arguments are not important due to I don't need to prove myself right or them. We can always both be right to some degree in some areas.
Only if the writer requests it, otherwise it's just rude.
Typos and spelling mistakes could be laziness or it could be that English is not the first language of the author so a degree of tolerance is called for, not everybody who wants to be heard has a degree in English language but that shouldn’t mean they remain silent.
If someone is deliberately promoting disinformation then we can try and judge the reason why, it could be harmless delusion so why bother. On the other hand if it is more serious then we can flag it and bring it to HP's attention. Some people deliberately try to start arguments to obtain attention or acquire an audience .
However most Hubs are started for a reason and usually comments are invited, and of course if your opinion differs from that of the writer you are quite at liberty to say so, although it should be done in a reasonable manner with resorting to abuse or rudeness. We can all agree to disagree over all sorts of issues without becoming mortal enemies.
I rarely critique unless invited. I will point out glaring misinformation with a link to the appropriate information. As to typos, I consider the source before I say anything. If all of the person's hubs have typos and misspellings, and it is obvious they are ESL, I defer to HP. If not, I will send a message.
If I disagree, I say something. Many discussions can be begun with an opposing viewpoint enters the comments. I am not, however, going to be belligerent. I will engage in argument with an open mind. I have been convinced before and likely shall be again.
I can be disagreeable without being negative.
I am a big time critic. I am very honest giving opinions. I believe the main reason for criticism is to gain feedback. I don't get rude but there is always a positive way to say something negative. I also do give my viewpoint. It's not necessary the viewpoints of people are same.Somehow till date I have never told any hubber of their spelling mistakes. I find that rude. Though i know it is only constructive criticism.
Yes, every single time. People call me crazy, but I think the whole point of reading a Hub is to pay attention to what the writer has to say. I've had several writers come up to me personally through e-mail saying that they love my work, However, they see a lot of typos on my Hubs.
That's why I am constantly checking, adding, and subtracting words, and improving my Hubs. This not only helps me, but It brings me a lot more traffic as well..

Question from a newbie:Been reading through some well-written hubs that contain one or two glaring typos or mispelled words. Sometimes they're due to transposed letters, sometimes just outight mispellings (I saw "ludacris" instead of "ludicrous" in one, for example). Is it bad...

Is it appropriate to point out typos in a hub in the comment section? I ask because I would want to know if anyone found typos in my stuff, but I'm not sure whether or not everyone appreciates that kind of thing, politely worded of course.

Is there a reason why hubbers do not accept constructive criticism and/or corrections? Am I the only grown-up on this site who takes corrections as a means of making my hubs better and myself informed? I, not wanting to let a hubber I started to follow look like a fool, decided to correct this...

Do you think it's polite to point out to a fellow hubber that they have misspelled a word or name?

Hi allSo I had a lot to say on this hub and it came in at just around 6,000 words. I'm not sure whether it might be worth splitting up into three parts or something to make it a little more accessible? It's just a topic I happen to be passionate about!!!Also, I know my titles are not really search...
