Poetry or pieces on general interest?
Here's my situation:
I can churn poetry like butter... several an hour. But it takes a lot longer to write a thorough, informative article...
Does poetry generate success on hubpages? I would be most interested to hear people's experiences.
Mix it up a bit. I share the same dilemma at times, having poetry just flow out of me at times and having to work on multiple articles through revision and rewrite. Just like I said, mix it up a bit. Post a poem and work on an article for every 2-3 poems that you post, then every 1-2, and finally for every poem that you write and post.
I think poetry is so expressive of how you feel, that churning out a lot of them will give people and/or followers better stimuli to who you are and where your mind is. Writing and creating hubs that engage people and garner a positive reception will lead to more views/traffic; however, success is measured by a personal goal, so assessing what you want versus where you are will establish whether or not your really succeeding. Good luck!
Write what you love. I've tried writing articles here to get views and clicks and it wasn't nearly as fun or rewarding for me as writing about the things I am passionate about. If you are looking to make money, I'd recommend other avenues. You may make some money here on Hubpages, but not an income by any means.
It really depends on your end goal here at hubpages. Are you here to create a writing portfolio and gain some followers of your work or are you here to make money?
If you're trying to gain a following of people who love your poems, then this is a fine place to be (at that point I would strongly recommend linking your poems together if you aren't already).
If you looking to make money then the traffic you're looking to attract is coming from Google. Think "What would I have to search to find this poem?" vs "What would I have to search to find this article?"
Informative articles are going to be more highly searched than poems are. You should also consider the fact that there are so many poetry websites featuring famous poets. If someone searches "friendship poems" they're going to be taken to one of those sites and they likely won't make it far enough along in the Google search to find your poem about friendship.
Well I just started on Hubpages about a week ago, so I can't give you the best perspective. I've posted 2 poems and 1 short story, received 2 followers and about 5 comments so far. I've also already made 15 cents through the Ad program and Google Adsense. Not too shabby if you ask me. However, I'm going to try to churn out a few articles also, because I think they might be more successful. Hope this helps!
I'm a poet..of sorts..and poetry is mostly what I do in Hubpages, & its a know fact that in any writing portal, writing relates to articles of general or specific topics or even certain analysis & comparative studies...poetry is not big in the modern millennia world...but that doesn't bother me..I love expressing through poetry & that's that...
Yeah, it does, I love making fun poetry. You can see some of mine. See Emilyfed.
Good Luck.
I'm no expert, and haven't been writing hubs for long. In fact, I've written four. I've written three reviews on books and one poem and I've had the least views on the poem. Then again, I am following someone who writes a lot of poems and limmericks and he has plenty of followers that read and comment on his hubs so... I guess it just depends on how you spend your time here on hubpages and what you do with your writing.
It does has success on hubpages if your poetry is good and eye catching. You have to make sure that it is well set and ready to attract traffic. The number of people those like poetry is much more than those who like articles so its sure you can generate a greater traffic with poetry than that of article. You just have to work on it, cause it is delicate things article is not as delicate as poetry, take extra care and you'll see the results

Hi,Do more experienced Hubbers have any useful tips for getting your article moved to a niche site? I kept seeing advice that goes something like "make sure you write a high-quality article" but it just seems so vague to me. I have 9 articles now and the only one that was moved to a niche...

I'm in the process of finishing with Medium as I'm taking a six month sabatical in order to write a series and a book. So I just wanted to emphasize some things.Hubpages pays you passive income. You can have a 10 year old article which still earns. That does not happen on Medium. Medium is set up...

I love HubPages. It is the very first format that has allowed me to earn any money from my writing. Other sites used my writing to make money, but the reward was less than satisfying, as most of you may understand. Here is the problem. A lot of my articles are being copied. These articles are being...

I feel concerned that the reason google may prefer ehow as opposed to hubpages, is because there is an abundance of poetry and short stories. I am not by any means saying that those who publish the short stories and poetry are not good, but they are not usually searchable or high market. I...

I have just started, so I dont expect it in the near future, but how many hubs, or how many months before you start making money? How much traffic is considered to be good traffic? Right now I am getting about an average of 75 hits per day on 4 hubs. Is that good? What...
