What words would you use to describe the lower middle class without using the actual
words?
Here in Australia the term ;Bogan' has sprung into fashion over the past ten years or so. Don't know where it originated. However, do suspect that the people who live in a tiny town way out in the desert region along the Queensland- New South Wales Border would object to it. The name of their town is Bogan Gate. Look it up on Google Maps.
I would call them the working class, as they are comprised of people who do manual labor type jobs. Other countries might call them labouring class and proletariat.
Low SES, or low socioeconomic status. Although I think that applies more toward the "lower" class or poverty stricken. So I don't know..
I would call them us, or people, who never had the opportunities that the rich have had, sometimes through their own fault and sometimes because of happen-stance, but no different from you or me other than finances, probable. So I would call them Rich people without money/resources.
They can be classified as the gentrified poor. They are the wealthier sector of the poorer socioeconomic classes. They are the struggling class who has never arrived. They live only a slightly better existence than their abjectly poorer cousins. They can be considered as poor.
They are oftentimes the least educated. It is usual for them to finish high school and to not further their education. If they do further their education, it is oftentimes in the technical or secretarial schools.
Their parenting styles are akin to the lower classes. It is not unusual for them to use corporal punishment or other forms of discipline regarding their children. They are very authoritarian in outlook. They value obedience and strict conformity. They are also powerless like their poorer cousins. Really, they and the poorer classes are so alike that there isn't really any difference between them. They maintain that they are better than the poorer class when in actually they are the same as the poorer classes in outlook, philosophy and lifestyle.
