I'm reading Thereby Hangs a Tail, which is a part of Spencer Quinn's Chet and Bernie mystery series told from the point of view of the dog.  These books are quick 2-3 day reads (for me anyway - they can probably be read in one setting) and an absolute delight for anyone who loves dogs.

Also How Long Things Live and How they live As Long As They Do which is a series of short life stories of a wide range of animals and a few plants.  Each little essay is about a 5 minute read and you can skip around and find your favorite creatures.

I'm reading the Kite Runner. It's been our for a while, but a friend recently recommended it to me. It's a really poignant text, and I really like it so far. It deals with the life of a child growing up in Afghanistan, his strange relationship with his father, and a friendship with a childhood friend. It's a quick read and very interesting on a cultural, historical, and entertainment level.

I'm reading Diana Gabaldon's "Cross Stitch" (Nothing to do with sewing by the way) I've read all the books in this series by Diana and found them "unputdownable" The heroine Claire Randall walks through a stone circle and finds herself back in 1743 - the Scottish Highlands.
