Fantasy. Is it your cup of tea?
Do you love to read fantasy, or absolutely hate it? What is it about Fantasy that you like or don't like? If it isn't your favorite genre, compare it to your favorite and explain your preference.
Well, I write in the genre, so that probably answers your first question.
I like the range of imagination, and also the combination of folklore with contemporary themes.
I really don't know why I love fantasy to give you a detailed explanation, but my folks have been reading fantasy books since I was a kid, they even had a Lord of The Rings 83 edition, so I guess it was inevitable. I simply enjoy reading a good book, no matter the genre!
For as long as I can remember, I've always loved getting lost in a fantasy world. Sword and Sorcery, Classic Fantasy, Mythical Monsters, Dark Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, I can never get enough. There's just something so magnetic about escaping from reality and diving into a world that could never exist without the book in your hands. My favorite part about fantasy is the magic, not just the spells that the characters cast, but the magic that is in every page of ever chapter of every fantasy book.
I love fantasy so much, I even created my own fantasy world and attempted to write a book. At the time, I didn't understand the structure of fantasy well enough yet. Now I feel like I can grasp the plot of an Urban Fantasy, and I'm taking a break from reading Harry Potter and The Alchemyst and Eragon and the Chronicles of Narnia to try writing a fantasy again.
It's my favorite genre of book to read. So much that I've begun to write my own so that I can choose the plot. It can take me anywhere that I want to go and in the world of fantasy, anything can happen. I'm not bound by the stupid rules of reality. Fantasy is the love of my life!
I do love fantasy. I write in the genre as well. However, I don't like the title of "fantasy." It makes you sound like you have your head up in the clouds. I think it is the very fringe of creativity because these are completely new worlds, new systems we are talking about. It is just about as far out there as you can get.
I love to read and write fantasy! I'm better than reading it than writing it though. Haha. It's definitely my favourite genre to read and right now I'm enjoying a series by Tamora Pierce.
I also like Sci-Fi.
I don't understand fantasy, when everyone knows magic, but doesn't know how to stay out of trouble.
I love reading and writing fantasy fiction. I also enjoy mixing fantasy with science fiction, similar to Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover series or Anne McCaffrey's Pern series. There is a good bit of both in those two series, and I really enjoy the juxtaposition.
More than anything, though, I enjoy a well-written story I can get lost in. If I can't put it down to go to sleep, I love to read it. Unfortunately, it means I don't read as often as I would like to, since I can't read unless I have enough hours to devote to it to finish the book. LOL!
I love fantasy, it is my favorite genre. I love it because I love creativity, and fantasy is purely creative work. It makes the imagination come to life, and it inspires me more than anything else. Whenever I read a good fantasy book I get drawn so deeply into it that I have a hard time putting it down. Fantasy opens the door for the exploration of things found in our own world, and sometimes can help us understand them better.
