My favorite book of all time is actually a series of books.  The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind (contains ten books in the entire series).

As for whether or not it "helped" me in any way...as with any good book, it always helps a person to escape from reality for a little while and immerse themselves in a fantasy world of vivid imagery, rich and detailed landscaping, and intricate character creation.

If an author writes so well that I can't put a book down, to me that's definitely "helpful."  smile

my favorite book was actually a school book for my reading class it had essays in it that covered interesting topics and one that I liked the most was one that talked about how everyone can learn a skill and that not one person is smarter than another person so if we want to try something we have never done before its best to just learn it then being intimidated about it.

My favorite book is The Sot Weed Factor by John Barth. It's a satirical parody of 18th & 19th century picaresque novels like Joseph Andrews, Tom Jones, etc except it is set in 18th century Maryland - it's very clever and super funny. And yes it helped me by hauling me out of a rut of reading mostly Beat Generation and early to mid century stuff and opened a gateway to more contemporary novels and novelists...

As odd as it may sound, I do not have a favourite book.

I have yet to come across something that I could consider as favourite. Most books I read barely ever have any significance in my real life.

It may sound a bit shallow and childish but my favorite book is the Harry Potter series. How it helped me was that not only did it "make me" love and enjoy reading, it somehow indirectly helped me discipline myself and to not get distracted easily by things. So when I have to study lets say, I can focus and concentrate on whatever I have to do
