Wow tough question especially since HubPages is basicly a site with members that write and adore reading!
A tree grows in Brooklyn-amazing book everyone can relate to Francie. I typically go for deep heartfelt novels and this is one of them.
MY favorite book is "Stranger". Why? Because Its about lost soul in the human, about state when you do not know who you are. Its about one ICE COLD SOUL man who did not was sad or cried when his mother die. I love the book because it really open yours eyes and then you see some of yours bad act, you did not saw before.
My favorite book is Angela's Ashes, a true story about author Frank McCourt's life. Such poverty and misery. Makes me grateful for what I had growing up.
I'm not sure why , I think because the life wihin the story is so tragic , but "Tinity" by Leon Uris . An Irish story .
definitely Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle for its optimum detective entertainment. )
The Guns of August by Barbara Tuchman. It sent me a journey that has led to a 30+year love affair with history. I have a passion for history and the first spark can be traced back to this book and this author more than 30 years ago. Thank you Ms Tuchman!!
my lifetime favourite is Black Beauty, I have 4 copies, first one dating back to 1952 with the original 'thou art'.etc.. and most of it's dustjacket, the original brown one with Beauty being led out of the burning barn. then another from 1968, another 1972 and a final copy that was bought out a few years ago purple with gold binding, i think it was a anniversary edition. plus it's my fav colour hehe
another of my favs, is Justin Morgan, i have one of the originals, can't remember the year, it's hidden away in a box so it can't deteriorate any further than it already is. it also has the thou art wording of many years ago. these are both my favourite stories of my life.. followed by Call of the Wid, it's on the book shelf but i'm too lazy to go look who wrote it.
the reason these two books are my fav's.. they jsut are! i can relate to them completely. don't ask why, cos even i don't know that.
Barbara Taylor Bradford, Daniel Steel, Jackie Colins, and all the one's i've written.. apparently i write similar to these three authors, yet, i never started reading theirs until long after i started writing.
i would have to say "Swan Song". i read it 20 years ago almost and for whatever the reason it's still my favorite book.
My favourite book is A piece of Cake written by Cupcake Brown, a true life story
"Safe as Houses" because I can really connect to it, and makes my heart warm every time I read it... Wonderful book!!
Tough one. I'll say, "The Gift of Fear" by Gavin de Becker. This book has allowed me to be more comfortable in my surroundings and has increased my daughter's and my safety more than anything else I've ever learned.
Fire Bringer, it is the best fantasy book I have ever read. I was so drawn in by this book, almost entranced.
10,000 Leagues Under te Sea...I dont exactly know why but I have read probably every version ever made and everytime I am still blown away at how interesting it is to me...
My favorite book is Raja Shivchatrapati, written by Babasaheb Purandre. Book contains Characteristic and success story of King Shivaji. I get inspired, motivated when I read this book. Even this book helps me too many time to make good decisions in present life.
It'll have to be "Carrie" by Stephen King. I used to hate reading, until I came upon this novel. After reading it, I just couldn't stop reading - not only Stephen King - but many other authors as well.
Every time I feel as if I'm losing my love for reading and writing, I reread "Carrie," and it never fails to work it's magic on me.
Weird, huh? I can't really explain why either. ^_^
A book which i have with me in 1st standard.
i learned AtoZ(English book) from that book, because after that i familiar with English...hee hee

What was your favorite book as a child? As a child my favorite books varied, but I recall The Rainbow Fish, Imogene's Antlers, The Giving Tree, Goodnight Moon, and the Nancy Drew mysteries as I grew a little older. What are some of yours and what memories have sprung from reading those books?
