Probably Gold Cush in the Fall ans Semsimilian in the spring,,, oops not that kind of gardening. You said So Cal and I just assumed... well.
It largely depends on where you are in So Cal. If you are in the coastal band below Ventura most things will grow year round because it really doesn't get too cold or too hot.
If you are in the low desert then your veggies should be planted at the begining of Feb.
In the high desert probably late March, although the temperature swings are so wild a greenhouse is almost a must.
I would have to ask both where exactly you are and which veggies you want to plant.
With the exception of the high deserts you can grow something all year.
