What are the best plants to grow in pots, in a container garden?
Some people only have room to grow plants in pots and containers. Do you have suggestions for growing plants in pots and containers, favorites, etc?
geraniums! you don't have to root them...you just break off a sturdy branch from a strong parent plant and stick it in dirt. I have a bizillion of them and they are very low maintenance except when the petals fall.
You can grow just about anything in a pot - with the right care. A few years after my wife and I bought our place we found out that salt water was dumped there. I grew the most beautiful corn crop in dog food bags full of composted manure; I acquired from my neighbors cattle lot. Guess I could write a hub on this if I still have the pictures.
Dog food bags and similar plastic sacks, have holes so water can get through so it doesn't sit and rot your roots. I also grew sunflowers the same way. It was kind of amazing. These big tall plants, sometimes 2 and 3 in a bag, growing way above the sack top. I did have to lean them against each other; otherwise they would fall over every time a strong wind passed by. Good luck.
