   At least every other week. Most are harmless and I pick them up and move them into the woods. The Copperheads are dispatched if they are anywhere near the barn or pond.

      OK. I agree the good ones you keep.  But, I may just forget when I am actually in the midst of the job. Copperheads are very scary to have around and I hope you don't see too many of those.

      A few each year. The grandkids are why these guys are dispatched.

   When I used to cut the grass, yes! You just try to mow right over them before they can get away.  Sorry, Gusser, but being a woman there is a natural tendency to get rid of them (it's Biblical).

      I try to keep the good ones around to help in pest control in the barn. NO problem with you mowing them down.

   Yep. I like snakes though, so I don't try to hurt them or anything. Plus, we only have one poisonous snake in these parts, a type of rattler, and they mostly live up north so I've never seen ones. The snakes that live in our yard just look like common garden snakes.

   Yes, quite a bit, and now we have one living in the cinder blocks next to our spirea bush and we see him about every sunny day . My husband has a fear of snakes so I'll let him know they're there so as not to startle him, but otherwise leave them alone or shoo them out of harm's way. I'm in Wyoming, so almost none of the snakes are poisonous -- there are quite a few rattlers in the state, but I've never seen them in town since no one will let them live if they see them around people. On the outskirts of town they get pretty big, and if they're where kids or critters could get hurt I'll give them a quick end and bring them home to roast, but thankfully never an issue during lawn care.

   I've seen them slither out of sight in the garden while working out there.  We don't have poisonous snakes where we live so no worries.

   Living in the country...all the time.  Usually you see their tail as the just move out of sight into a hole.  Just the other day i was weeding, by hand, and there was a shedded skin of a black snake!  Stop me for a moment!
