   Have you ever given away money to a stranger? Why and how much?
   
   People are in need all the time, have you ever helped out a complete stranger?

   Yes, a few times in my life I've given money to a stranger because I believe they needed it and it would be put to legitimate use. However, I don't make a habit of this and often avoid people who ask or beg for money so this does not happen much.

   Yes. When older people are on fixed incomes, sometimes they cannot afford everything they want. I and my husband both, would nod to the cashier to let it go through and we would pay the difference.

   I have. I don't know how much, but it was not much. I saw a homeless man on my way to dinner to a restaurant I could walk to and I just took all of the cash I had in my purse and gave it to him. It was not out of obligation. He was hungry and in that moment, I knew that he was hungry. He did not ask me.

   I have given money, food, food cards, clothes, and furniture to people that I did not know. I wrote a hub on Helping the Homeless and I do. I have also given money to people just because I felt that they needed it.
   I have, in the past, been handed money and told that the Lord wanted me to have it. This was done by friends, acquaintances and strangers. I believe in paying it forward and obeying God's will by giving generously.

   Yes, there was a late middle-aged lady stranded in our town.  The town ministerium put her up in a room for the night.  My daughters and I fixed a meal and took it to her and gave her what cash we had - $17.  That was it.  She called the house the next day and thanked us.

   Yes, 2 women came to me when I arrived at home, first woman asked me for help by showing me a prescription for her child, she wanted to borrow some money due her husband had not come home yet and tell me that her home not far from mine and she will pay me back once her husband came home, I don't know her and actually I don't believe her but I have to save her child. I didn't care about what she have told to me but if her child really need medicine and I did not help, I will feel quilty, so I gave about $50 for my currency at that time.
   
   And you know, I was right, she never came back, and I don't care.

   Yes. One example: I met a local woman while vacationing near Salvador, Brazil.  She was friendly  and helpful (she tutored English as a second language).  She asked me for my address and later wrote asking for money to help her family.  What was $50 to me compared to what it was to her?  At that time it would have been the equivalent of $500.  I sent her a check, but she sent it back because she could not get a bank to cash it.  So, I mailed five $10 bills to her.  I love the idea of creating someone else's little miracle.  And it couldn't hurt the image of the U.S., either.

   many, many times. i don't give money to bums but i have given anywhere from $5 to $50 to strangers and i would gladly give more if they were in need.

    Yes, my husband and I gave a man $10.00 at a gas station.  He said that he ran out of gas and couldn't make it home.  Thankfully he was telling the truth.  There was another occasion where I gave a homeless man $5.00 and ten minutes later I saw him walk by with a bottle of booze.  He said he needed money for clothes so that he could get a job.  That irritated me a little, I was only 12 years old and I was genuinely concerned for him.  It was my first experience with a homeless person.  My father tried to warn me but I gave him all the money I had left which was supposed to be spending money for my school field trip.

    One time I was returning to Fairbanks from the lower 48 and sat next to a very nice lady on the plane.  It was a long flight (from Atlanta to Seattle) and during drink service she asked the flight attendant how much soda cost.  I didnt give it much thought at the time, but later that small detail made sense.  Because the flight was so long there was also a pay for food dinner service which she refused.  So I ate my sandwich and dozed off for an hour or so.  Later in the flight she had almost passed out and the flight attendants had to give her assistance and a bit of food.  Because I was awake the flight attendant asked if I would keep an eye on her.  So we started to talk a bit and it turned out that she was leaving everything behind to move to Alaska to be near a friend who could help her.  She had no job, no money and had only eaten earlier in the morning.  She told me all of this and I began to realize that I could help her, I should help her.  I asked her if she had any money at all and she started to cry again as she said she didnt.  At that point I made up my mind that I would help her, so when we landed in Seattle I had a small 45 minute layover so I walked with her to an ATM and I gave her $100, which is not a great deal but it was what I could do, then helped her get a cab to the hotel that her friend had arranged for her in Seattle (she was staying over for the night).  Sometimes you have to help people.  I dont know what happened to her... I didnt get her name and I didnt leave her mine, but I hope the money helped her some.

    Yes I have and do whenever I think there is a need. No one has ever asked, I just give. I keep lots of ones and fives in my purse just for that reason.
