Are the Elections Just a Diversion?

US Media

All the media are swamping themselves with talk of the republican elections and who will oppose the President in the upcoming Presidential elections. Why though have they stopped reporting what else is happening in the world, especially in so far as where these occurrences may affect the United States? For instance: 12,000 US troops have been reported arriving at Malta. This, they say, is a temporary position as they will soon move into Libya.

Although the US took pride in stating that they had no troops on the ground in Libya during the uprising, as they had no business there, why is it that even now they occupy a military base just East of Tripoli? Why would the troops be moving into Libya?

Why is NATO occupying all the oil terminals?

Isn’t the uprising over, isn’t Gadaffi dead?

News

Why is it that when Gadaffi was alive and there was little crime on the streets, gas was almost free, newly weds were given a free house and 50% of the cost of a car was paid by the government, the press were reporting the plight of the Libyans, whilst complaining that they could not get proper access to the country? Yet now that there are no restrictions on them reporting from the country, they are not reporting that the people have to queue for hours to get gas, food is scarce and people are starving? Why are they not reporting that crime has become rife and that people are scared, even in their own homes where there is a lack of running water or electricity?
We have though heard that Iran may become a threat to the US’s national security. In response to this threat the US has sent the USS Enterprise into the Persian Gulf. The USS Enterprise is 50 years old and is scheduled to be scraped next year, why would that be central in the greatest current threat to the US?

It has been speculated by some foreign press, that it has been positioned there to give the US an excuse to invade Iran if it chooses to. How? The foreign press speculated that Israeli submarines could blow it up. Why? The attack could be blamed on Iran thereby giving the US an excuse to invade Iran. Also it would relieve the US of worrying about the expensive and controversial disposal of the ships 8 nuclear reactors. At the bottom of the Persian Gulf, they would be an Arab problem.

This of course was just speculation by a foreign press that cannot be trusted to tell the truth [where as the US press can?]. However, where is a person to look for news when the US media is not giving it?

Conclusion

I am not saying that you should believe any of the above but, to me, it does pose several questions. One being why is the media not reporting what is happening to the Libyan people, whose plight they avidly followed for several weeks? Secondly, why would the US send their oldest ship, due for decommissioning, to lead their newest and possibly biggest conflict and what does the US media have to say about it?

Why is the United States so called elite, who own the media, using all their investigative reporters to join their political reporters in reporting the Republican race?

Is it because it is not in their interest for the American people to know what is going on in the world?

Is it because they could not ethically justify what the media would have to report?

It could of course be that the media owners do not look at their companies as being a source for spreading factual information to the American people, just as a money making machine and a tool in assisting their political friends.
