Farewell Former Philippine President Cory Aquino
The Legacy Left by Cory Aquino Will Always be Etched in the Heart and Mind of Filipinos.
Filipinos find it difficult to say goodbye to their well-loved former Philippine President.
Corazon Aquino weaved her magic for the last time as millions of Filipinos showed their unwavering love and compassion to the woman that restored democracy in the Philippines. The funeral of Cory Aquino attracted huge followers. Rich and poor, famous and the common people, soaked with rain, braved their way and defying the tedious march in accompanying their cherished heroine with immense affection from Manila Cathedral to Manila Memorial Park.
Yellow confetti and flower petals were showered and were seen flying all over the place, military cannons were fired to honor their late Commander-in-Chief, and church bells all across the land sounded to pay tribute to the lady that the Filipinos has indebted much.
All thoughout the procession you could hear people cheering Cory! Cory! Cory! Truly a reminiscent of the same chants that was heard in the world's first bloodless revolution, the 1986 "EDSA People Power". The 22.38 km marathon trek started from 11:30 a.m. and reached the Memorial Park at around 7:30 p.m. Mourners came in with yellow shirts and umbrellas truly unfazed with the rains brought by tropical thunderstorm "Kiko". Big crowds waited for hours to catch a last glimpse of the casket of Cory Aquino which is draped with a Philippine flag.
Government officials, famous personalities and celebrities attended the Requiem Mass which was filled with tears and grief. Seen in the mass were Former Philippine Presidents Fidel Ramos and Joseph Estrada accompanied by his former senator wife Loi, Vice President Noli de Castro, Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., lone foreign leader present from Timor Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta and MMDA chair Bayani Agbayani.
Kris Aquino the youngest daughter, was tasked to deliver the family's final message.The tearful celebrity daughter pulled through with her speech with grace and too much love for her mother.
Filipinos singing prowess was at its best during the mass, Leah Salonga sang the heart-pounding "Bayan Ko" with so much passion, that enabled the people present in the mass rise to their feet weeping while flashing the everlasting Laban (L) sign. A day earlier, Mark Bautista rendered the heartwarming and moving song "Ugoy ng Duyan" at Necrological Service held at the Manila Cathedral.
The show of affection given to Cory Aquino was truly enormous, now Cory Aquino was considered to be the "Greatest Filipino that Ever Lived". Even her political enemies and ardent critics was humbled by her wit, charm and meekness. Now Cory Aquino accompanies the Man She had Loved Most, Benigno Ninoy Aquino. Farewell Ma'm Former President. Filipinos and the freedom loving people across the globe will surely miss you...

Antonio Cadiente, Airman 2nd Class Gener Laguindan, Police Officer 1 Danilo Malab Jr., and Petty Officer 3 Edgardo Rodriguez the honor guards that stood on top of the flatbed truck that carries the remains of Cory Aquino for ( hours were given honors and rewards of 25,000 pesos each (roughly 540 US dollars). The quartet stood without taking a break and meal.
