   Is the United States of America slowly becoming a christian theocracy?
   
   The ever increasing conservatism of the United States political landscape, combined with the christian rhetoric emanating therefrom, along with certain legislative actions taken in recent years, would lead this neutral observer to believe that this is the case.

   Not so slowly! The government is becoming a corporate theocracy. The largest and richest of coprorations, in their desire to run the country, have most recently discovered that they require the assistance of fundamentalist Christians. The fundamentalists and the corporations, working together, promote each other's ideas. By financially supporting fundamentalist candidates, the corporations get what they want: the fundamentalists wear blinders. They don't mind the corporate takeover as long as they get to legislate their moral directives...
   
   It is not a pretty picture!

   What exactly is this Christian government Theocracy ?
   
   I know George Bush Claims to be a Christian but his actions belie his words.
   
   His words belie his intent and his intent belies any true  christian faith.
   
   Fundamentaism as practiced by radical muslums is  certainly not Chistian.
   
   Not all Christians are radical either.

   Hardly.  We tend to believe the country goes in the direction of what we see on the News and are told by media.  I don't think it represents a true view of the population.

   on a whole, the U.S. is so far from being anything christian it's not funny. the crime rate is crazy, the love for power is absurd and the love for wealth is insulting. the U.S. is an awesome country but what is suppose to be christian it sure isn't.

   I think it is more about money than religion.  The conservatives use the Christian right to gain power but after the election they go for the dollar.  When you talk about value in America you talk about cost not moral value.  A whole lot of hate comes from the so called Christian right and so far as I know hate is not a Christian value but it does attract certain voters.  I know a lot of Christians who don't hate but that doesn't have good news value.  The media, especially Fox News, doesn't try to be fair and balanced they go for the shock value to increase ratings and make more money.  There are still a lot of level headed people in this country who just live their lives and ignore the propaganda.  I hope they are starting to get fed up.  I know I am.

   500 years from now, historians will probably refer to these decades in which we now live as a "dark age". Although technology is getting more advanced, human civilization is currently going backward. Literature, philosophy, education, and the arts have declined to almost nothing. Science and empirical evidence are disregarded and not understood. Religion and superstition are everything. More than 50% of the US population believes that hobgoblins, ghouls, devils, and demons interfere in their lives. Most people think the world is less than 10,000 years old. Our government has stopped honoring international treaties and appeals to our belief that we are morally right. We are losing legal fundamentals like habeas corpus. 800 years of human progress is being stripped away and forgotten. History is not understood and the future is of no concern. Instead of facilitating thought, our society is regressing back to primitive instincts of hairless apes that walk upright. Base instincts like "peacock" vanity, social dominance, hypocrisy, and sex are what pervades the world of the uncivilized. The human race may be facing self-imposed extinction. The lunatic X'ians refer to this as the rapture. (Personally, I like the Kool Aid suicide idea better--it was less intrusive) So we may pillage all animals, plants, and water on the earth until everything dies simply because a few billion people can't come to grips with the fact that nothing happens to them after they die and that there is no afterlife. That's it--life simply ends and the universe goes on. I guess no one told them that life was never supposed to be fair.
