The US use of assault drones around the world must stop immediately. Discuss.
US Drones have killed and maimed innocent civilians. Their use must be tethered. The recent growing protests against the use of US drones in Pakistan and other countries is a fantastic, wonderful and right movement. We should all be calling for the cessation of attack drones seeing as their successful use cannot be guaranteed. Furthermore the police state surveillance culture of the US is wrong and must also be curtailed as it perpetuates fear and resentment. Do you agree?
Drones save American lives. The only time you even know about their existence is when they are off target. I do feel bad for the families of the civilians that are supposedly killed. But, Just as in Afghanistan, We have no idea who is an Insurgent and who is a friendly. All of the people killed on 9/11 were friendly and innocent. This is the World they have asked for since that cowardly act. And Pakistan is not innocent by no means.
JT I can always rely on you to give a nutty answer. Replace "Supposedly killed'" with "Widely reported" & If you have "no idea who is an insurgent and who is a friendly" as you confess maybe it's time to stop dropping explosive weaponry on peopl
Dumb! You still believe Bush's conspiracy theory? The Rockefellers, Bushes, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice and gang participated in the murder. Why would Bin Laden give up the opportunity to claim the biggest coup ever by saying he didn't do it? Duh!!
Not calling names. Just calling what you said. It's dumb to attack someone who had nothing to do with 9/11 which was an inside job. Tons of iron microspheres prove that. Gov't felony in cleaning up the crime scene, too. Dumb!
Well said JThomp42. Being a combat veteran myself you don't know who the enemy is, this is just like Vietnam. War is not fun and innocent people get killed. It's an unfortunate fact of life.
Absolutely Sarra, These people can sit back in judgement, You have no idea unless you have been there! Thank you for your service Sarra!!
The US and its military are becoming more and more reckless. Collateral damage is becoming too routine. Life is being made cheap. Not only that, drones are flying over America!
But that's only the tip of a very large problem.
Right now, you can go to jail for 10 years or more for protesting what the government is doing. Protesting is now a felony.
Obama has his "Kill List" which includes Americans. "Oh, but they're bad people." Okay, but what about the 16-year-old American who was killed in one of the drone attacks to murder others?

Many of the laws in the last 10 years are unconstitutional, but that doesn't stop congressmen from coming out with more tyranny, because their new bosses -- the Corporation Party -- want it that way. And presidents sign that garbage into law. But Obama is doing even worse. He has written more than 900 Executive Orders -- more than a hundred times that of most other presidents and ten times his closest competitor, George W. Bush.
Now, the military can arrest civilian Americans and throw away the key. No charges, no attorney, no trial, no phone call.
History is repeating itself. Remember Germany 80 years ago?
Our Reichstag fire (false flag operation) was 9/11. The convenient patsy was Al Qaeda and Bin Laden. How sick is this when George H.W. Bush was meeting with Bin Laden family members on 9/11! And Bush family members ran the security for the World Trade Center.
And just like Hitler and his thugs, we have trashed our Constitution to institute tyranny and spying on our own citizens. Controlling movement of people (TSA). And several attempts to censor the Internet.
And just like Hitler, America has gone to war -- aggression against other nations that did nothing to us.
All based on that Big Lie -- 9/11.
We might not be using drones overseas or domestically if we got the truth out about 9/11.
Tons of iron microspheres in the 9/11 dust prove controlled demolition which proves inside job. A young Muslim created a YouTube video using a High School physics textbook to prove that WTC collapse of 3 bldgs was controlled demolition. Minimum collapse time for the towers by gravity collapse is 44 seconds, and that's not including the architectural margins of safety. But the 2 towers collapsed in more like 10 seconds!
Force an independent re-investigation into 9/11 to convict and imprison the real culprits and maybe we can stop the madness killing America.
Maybe this "discussion" belongs in the forums. It's not really a question.
Yes drones should be controlled and should not carry weaponry of any kind. This is not warfare as we know it - it's immoral and cowardly. I don't hear any other countries seriously complaining about the civilian deaths by drones or any attempt to take the question to a higher authority - the UN. Rights are being violated in the name of Operation Annihilate Al Quaeda And The Taliban Regardless Of Sovereign Rights.
The US has I believe gone far enough now (since 9/11) and should start to wind down its revengeful tactics in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Bin Laden is dead, Al Quaeda is severely weakened and the Taliban, if the US plays its cards right, can be diluted if given local political powers (with the promise of non extremism).
Military might is one thing - armed drones are the ultimate in non responsible war making - but the time has come to think and act differently. Killing civilians from the air plays right into the hands of the extremists. Stop now and the backlash may not be so great.
I hope Obama can withstand the right wing aggression machine and become a man who promotes a more peaceful approach to terrorism. Make no mistake the fanatics will not stop until the US changes its stance and shows a more benevolent side.
Considering how much pain people supposedly felt from the 9-11 attacks, you would think they would be unwilling to turn that same sin upon others. Evidently not, though, considering are 'War' against Terror has killed many times the number who died on 9-11. It's a fantastic example of cognitive dissonance.
So, not only is it morally wrong, but it doesn't make us safer (as it is supposedly doing). In fact it makes us much less safe, by adding fuel to the fire of hatred. Americans don't seem to have any idea how unfavorably the rest of the world sees our drone campaign. Even many of our European allies have an unfavorable opinion of it and some countries in the Middle East have a less favorable opinion of us than they did under Bush, which is pretty amazing, considering how awful Bush was to them.
This 'war' was never winnable with bombs. It still isn't today and it won't be tomorrow. The drone strikes should stop immediately.
NO , I dont agree , nor do most Americans , Listen, terroism is the replacement for the old 'cold war' and yet rather than a threat of war all over the world between the Russians and the west , terrorism is untargeted , it cares little about the innocents , it has no uniform or battle flag , it is merely the warfare of cowards ! And IT must be cut off at its head much like a snake rearing itself to strike ! Therefore / drones . Americans on the street are tired of being the policeman of the world , tired of losing lives , and tired of paying our treasures to be held hostage by foriegn aid in countries that have no systems of control outside of corruption ! The drone is the answer , a precise strike at the right place is essential for fighting this new enemy! Heres a question for you ! When will terroists start targeting ANYTHING ...........but the innocents ?
Precise strike? The point of this discussion is that the drones are proving anything but precise.
When was the last terrorist attack Joe? Instead of condemning America, People should be thankful that we have taken care of so many terrorists and their "Safe" houses. Who knows what terrorist attacks we have foiled.
