Do you believe that people should get tax refunds that are more than they pay into the system?
Many people are getting $8,000-$9,000 and $10,000 back as tax refunds and they did not even pay that much into the system. It seems that these are what they called income tax credits. Many of these people are struggling and have young children living with them. There are many others that do not get refunds but pay lot of taxes into the system. Do you believe that the debt of the country should be paid first and the distribution of wealth should not be part of the tax system?
No they Shoudln't yet it happens in large numbers. Things like the making work pay program and earned income credits all fall under the category "Income Security" There are numerous other items in this category as well. Some make sense...many do not. This category is the 4th largest item on the Federal Budget.
absolutely not under any circumstances. This fits the same category as those loopholes, kickbacks, tax breaks, and any other programs that gives large corporations making billions/trillions of dollars in profits, by giving them even MORE profits. The wealthy make their own rules, write their own legislation and pay the politicians to vote them in. There is corruption from top to bottom in Washington that needs to be addressed before there can be any changes that benefit the average citizen.
If there is more deregulation made in Washington we will see more of the same: the wealthy getting wealthier, and the poor getting poorer, and the earth being polluted for profit.
People who choose to have large families do not deserve any more of a tax break than the single person who works to support themselves.

I was chatting with a friend, Sam, the other day. He is openly gay, insists that he is a traditional Orthodox Jew and is very adamant about his “rights”. He believed that “people should be able to live however they wanted to or chose” – which to me, is the scariest phrase in the history of mankind....

another issue I am learning more about. I have been a self-employed single parent for over a decade and my income level hasn't changed much...and its not because I don't work hard! How would FairTax affect me?
