Do sentient artificial intelligences have rights?
I have come to believe that as soon as an intelligence becomes sentient or conscientious that case of intelligence has the same rights (birthrites) as every member of Mankind. How could Man know what is sentient and aware if not by observing his own inner nature as self evident proof that he has a conscience and awareness of the reality around him? Who is to say that all of mankind is not artificial from the vantage point of creationism or metaphysics that clearly show that we are vibrations of light and other energy interacting through fields and particles? What of the machines who are aware?
True sentient in A.I's is to far away or maybe not possible, but if it had sentient's I do hope so.
What are your thoughts regarding chatbots such as cleverbot.com?
I tend to agree in principle. In Star Trek, Commander Data was considered a life form with rights and privileges just like a human. I was chatting with a friend, Sam, the other day. He is openly gay, insists that he is a traditional Orthodox Jew and is very adamant about his “rights”. He believed that “people should be able to live however they wanted to or chose” – which to me, is the scariest phrase in the history of mankind....
