   "It doesn't have to be that way."  For you, what is the "it" in that sentence?
   
   I had been listening to a Willie Nelson album and the lyrics, "It's not supposed to be that way..." were still running through my head when I was talking with a neighbor. We were discussing the ugly sight of the oil wells visible right off the coast at Huntington Beach, CA (Surf City USA).
   Often we assume things in life are "just that way". However, what is the "it" that you feel "doesn't HAVE to be that way".  What can one do to change that kind of "it". I posted this image on FB and received interesting responses, I'm wondering what YOURS are.  Cheers, Billie

   It can be absolutely anything and absolutely everything.  If you think that the world should be different somehow, that "it" is the part of the world that should be different.

      Exactly.  I just was wondering what hubpage writers' "its" were.  Do you have an "it" that you'd like to be different Ben?

      That's a good question.  One of my "its" would be, in sensitive discussions such as abortion, to see well researched and well supported arguments.  Disagreement is OK, but closed-mindedness and lack of research and willingness to research is another.

      Ah,close-mindedness doesn't have to be that way. Opening our minds-a difficult task for all of us. I happen to be reading the novel "Con Law" by Gimenez and in Chap. 2, the law student characters are debating facets of abortion law.You might like it

   I would say prejudice.  While it's true we all are prone to preconceived ideas, some people choose to be against entire groups of people based on these outdated and silly notions.  this can be against anything - currently we see it with a lot of gay bashing, but also gender, race, religions etc. 
   
   Hating people for no good reason - shouldn't have to be that way.
