Are people so ignorant of what pneumonia means to someone over 60? That is what kills most.
Hey buddies left and right. Old people get pneumonia and die. The drugs to keep them alive alter cognizance. They are not in the same mental sphere as the rest of us. Go hold your grammas hand but do not give her the keys to a car.
Wow. You just can't be nice, can you? Your pastor should kick you out. Some Christian you are.
You are not a doctor, and you don't know what you are talking about.
Oops I have a doctorate. I have spent a lifetime in geriatric care. My mom had pneumonia. I get my lack of oxygen flowing to the brain. I understand that blockage of airwaves to the blood causes problems with cognizant thought. Do you get it?
Airwaves to the blood? WTF are you talking about? And i am sure your doctorate is not in medicine.
You have reality issues. Usually we see this in the youngest of a family where the elders protect the younger from reality/ Grandma has pneumonia is a way of saying grandma is dying.
Get over it.
Eric is NOT a "Christian" and he continues to prove this! His followers are the dumbest pieces of dung I've seen! How could they not see through Satan himself?
Anyone can get pneumonia and you can survive it or die from it at any age. Usually it depends on your general health.
Kathleen this is kind of neat how it raises awareness of the number one killer of folks over 50. Maybe just the increased awareness may save people that should go on to lead productive lives in the future. HRC and Trump blow me away with their vigor.
Well, I'm glad that Norine is back to share the truth of the Bible. "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love-Eph 4:2. " Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful"-Eph 4:29
Well Linda, I am glad that I keep learning. Right now I just wish I knew the truth. Perhaps it is nothing to think about but perhaps it is. I think the truth will become obvious. I pray for both candidates good health as Trump has indicated we should
People of all ages sometimes die of pneumonia. Especially poor people who have limited, or no access to healthcare. People with chronic conditions may not fare as well either if pneumonia is added to the mix. Elderly people often have chronic conditions, but I would hardly call Hillary elderly.
Actually, most people in so-called civilized, or developed countries die of old age/ natural causes.
Middle and upperclass people get better quality healthcare than most people. I'm sure Hillary has the latest and best healthcare available to human kind.
You know Reagan managed the presidency at 80 even well into Alzheimer's disease. He couldn't manipulate Iran-Conta Affairs anymore, but he managed the basics with a little help from Nancy. Hillary will have Bill's help when necessary I'm sure, and he's eons more qualified than Nancy was. So I'm sure all will be well.
Tim Kaine was a great choice for VP, too.
Pneumonia is a bad thing no matter what age you are. Most of my friends who were taking chemotherapy for cancer, did in fact get pneumonia and they all have died. I'm sure it is a miserable death. Not being able to breathe. Lungs full of fluid. Having a cough that never quite gets the mucous out of your lungs. Feeling tired. Feeling weaker and weaker and weaker. Are most people ignorant of what pneumonia means to people over 60? Probably. I agree, pneumonia seems like a death sentence.
Dang I pray for her. In my battle with fatal cancer we were most weary of blockage of the heart and lungs. I had to work my butt off to stay mobile and deny the crap from settling in my lungs. Old folk just ain't got a chance to normalcy.
All that travelling in airplanes and stuff is probably what caused it because any time I fly - I get sick for 3 days. I think it's the dry recirculated air filled with other people's germs. I don't like A/C for the same reason. It's been said that black mold is in all A/C units after 6 short months.
Hope HRC gets better.
I hear you about the A/C the first dorm I lived in had the A/C running all the time. I ended up with ear infections. I had moved from the coast (where you rarely used A/C) to inner Orange County where temps always soared. I hated it.
Wow! How do these candidates do it? No way I could do it. But my wife would kick my butt if I denied being sick and did not get medical help. Pretend it is ok and present healthy -- damn if that does not sound like an alc0holic.
My dad had pneumonia after turning 80. He got over it after treatment for two-three weeks and didn't have any side effects from the drugs. In fact, he went back to doing what he always did...do a bike century and build some steam engines in his garage...just for the heck of it. No mental problems there.
BTW the drugs you use are antibiotics and an inhaler for at least two or three weeks. Of course those with other medications for other conditions have to be careful. I should know because I had walking pneumonia (which Clinton probably has). I got mine from a very intense bike ride and started off with cold-like symptoms...except for that painful dry cough.
Point being is that pneumonia can be serious, but it's treatable at any age. And drug's side-effect would be result (if any) from mixing with other medication. Don't quote me though, that's just what my sister -- a doctor -- has told me.
I just love stories that are exceptions to the rule. And I just love octogenarians that are all healthy and doing projects and engaged with others. Like cancer survivors that beat the odds it is great to hear miraculous stories.
Pneumonia is indeed a serious illness. 8 years ago I wound up hospitalized with pneumonia and have never been that sick in my life. Breathing becomes very labored. It's frightening. Most often it is viral and resistant to anti-biotics which makes treating it a very delicate task. Of course the older the person, the more dire the situation. This was I'm sure why HRC nearly passed out.
Yossarian....I did not translate Eric's comment as being mean. He is clearly talking about the fact that lack of oxygen, due to pneumonia, DOES affect every organ, including our brain. I'm sure we all know what happens when we do not get sufficient oxygen to the brain. It causes confusion and panic. This is all that it seems Eric was saying. In all fairness, you may have misunderstood his intent.
If Hillary follows her Dr's advice and takes the required meds, she will bounce back. It takes time to clear up pneumonia.
Dang, Paula, if found out I don't know squat about pneumonia but I am learning. The god awful thing is contagious. I just do not know enough to judge Hillary but I know enough to ask questions. We are well advised to question her judgment.
My mother had two bouts with pneumonia in her 70s. They knocked her out. It's a serious condition. But both times she recovered beautifully. She lived to be 88, dying of a heart attack, which is common in women in general.
Hillary needs rest and treatment for this temporary illness. I'm sure she won't get it two months away from the election. But it's not like having cancer or something chronic.
Pneumonia is an equal opportunity infection. Remember Jim Henson (of the Muppets)? He died at the age of 53. One of the problems is that there are two kinds of infections--viral and bacterial. Bacterial can be treated with antibiotics, viral cannot.
I've had pneumonia 6 times--and although it truly wiped me out I don't think it erased my mind.
Just sayin'.
Diva...6 times?! U poor woman! Once was enough 4 me. There is a vaccine (every 7 yrs) No, LOL, I don't think it kills brain cells. While U R ill, the obstruction of oxygen causes temporary confusion. Stay well!!!
Do you think it is our obligation to look further? I just have a unhealthy remembrance of my mom that I know is anecdotal and not the general truth.
If I had it I would not want to spread it. I would call in sick and work from home.

Ok so here is the deal, I have written a couple hubs of a very personal nature. I guess trying to find some form of therapy and outlet for feelings I have a hard time expressing. I had me ex wife read one of them (the one about her) and it made her cry. So is it good or bad that she got enough from...

I'm really tired of seeing political messages relating to the Healthcare bill. One side tells us how everything is very poor, how it's going to raise the cost for us all, and how it's going to destroy America. The other side tells us how good it is, how it will benefit us all and how it will save...

If Hillary Clinton has a serious medical condition, should she drop out of the election?I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are regarding this. If she does have to exit the race, what are the repercussions of doing so?(Take a moment to follow my conservative page too!)
