Why havent there been any criminal investigations launched against Toyota company given the...
alarming rate of recall of its Prius vehicles?
BECAUSE NO CRIME WAS COMMITTED. they made mistakes with some things and they are trying to fix them. and the prius is not the only issue.
the prius though was rushed into production because of all the global warming idiots screaming for something more "green" they burn much less gas than other cars, but what about the battery acid. when those batteries have to be changed, where do we put all that leftover lead. seems to me the cure is worse than the disease.
i had a 1998 saturn sl1 and it got 43 miles to the gallon on a trip. it had 150,000 miles on it and ran beautiful. someone decided to go through a red light and total the car last year, but the engine still ran after a hellacious impact. lets make those instead.
Well, so far no crimes have been committed that I know of. Toyota certainly will have issues going forward, such as with trust, but I think overall the company will do just fine. Not to sound self-promoting, and I hope it doesn't come off that way, but I actually wrote two hubs on the subject if you'd like to read them; "Toyota Halts Production," and "Toyota and Tiger Have A Lot In Common." The latter hub pertains more directly to your question.
This love affair that the manufacturers and the public have with electronics and computers in cars is biting them on the ass. It will only get worse. Old-style mechanical linkages and hydraulics are easy to diagnose and repair. The new electronic stuff is erratic and difficult to diagnose without specialised and expensive equipment. And expensive to repair. And, all those specialised chips are going to be difficult to impossible to find for older models in a few years. Your "oh-so-kewl" newer car -- conventional or "green" -- is going to become a slag-heap. It's not just Toyota -- I have a friend with a 90s something Beamer. The brake circuit light is always on, and so far her BMW specialist can't find the problem. If there comes a REAL problem with the brakes, she is S.O.L.

Is Trump smarter than all of the people going after him?It sure seems to me that this guy has a whole lot of politically astute people and the worlds best investigators going after him. And I think it clear they have been doing so in earnest since about January of 2016. But nothing has stuck?...
