It's being reported that Costa Cruise survivors that weren't hurt will be receiving $14,000 each and in return they cannot sue Costa. Do you think this is adequate/appropriate? If not, what do you think they should receive?
Were I an undamaged survivor of that cruise, and didn't lose a large amount of property when it went down, I would be very happy with $14,000.
Some idiot made a mistake. A very stupid mistake that the company itself would never have condoned and in fact had rules against. To simply go after the "deep pockets" in an effort to make a huge financial gain out of the whole thing isn't right. There is nothing at all the company could have done to prevent the wreck - why punish them?
