Too many people. Carrying capacity, not acreage, is the problem. Everyone's crap has to go somewhere, and with billions and billions of people it affects everything. Where if only a few million, not much problem.
Whatever your cause, it is a lost cause without population control.

The problem is that humans want to kill and destroy with reckless abandon. We art ever proud of our capacity to kill and destroy, even glorifying it on tv and promoting it unto very young kids.
