What does the word " Love " mean to you?

Are you someone who says it freely or someone who guards its usage more than a chastity belt?

What does Love and not the Word Love mean to You?  Please humor me!  Thx
P.S.  Can a word really have a meaning or does the word represent an action we could clearly communicate with if we were unable to speak!

Love means you  care about someone or something unconditional.

To love someone unconditionally. To trust them and be open and honest at all times. To be totally comfortable and be oneself when in the others company. There is no need for pretense. You should be able to talk to them freely about anything and not ever be judged by them. To feel complete happiness when in each others company. True love is very rare. If you have it, hold on to it with everything and cherish every moment.

For me (who has never been in love), love is a verb, an action word. It's not only about feelings. If you love someone, you do certain things for them, that someone else may not do.

For me love is life. Without it life is impossible. On the other hand it can make your life worse as well. so be aware of its side effects. First recognize that your love is true, because now the definition of love has been changes since this era for people.

The moment I am convinced that I am indeed in love with the certain person, I would tell him..So far, I told two souls only (and I am 37)...Maybe because, for me LOVE is sacred....it is not a thing to be played upon...

For me 'love' means keeping no secrets. If there is genuine love respect is bound to follow and hiding nothing becomes a natural approach. When these are missing love cannot be complete.

I say it freely as well as guard its usage. I say this because for years not understanding or have a definition I could live with I sought help elsewhere. I discovered it with the book "the four loves" by C.S. Lewis. For now, there is meaning(s) I am able to live with.

Thanks all. Great answers.  I believe love is when you respect, care for and cherish another.  Love can be unspoken by showing you care for someone else by being a part of that persons life and sharing with them.  Saying it to someone else is expressing quite literally how you feel about them.  There are different types of love as well.

Love to me is just things you really like. I love writing about zombies... If your talking about the emotion then it's definately one of the strongest and most manipulative emotions.

To me, hate it or love it, it means a series of chemical reactions that happen in your brain. Love is actually a chemical imbalance inside the body. But it feel so good, doesn't it?!

Personally, I try not to use it. I tell my family and my son that I love them. That's about it.
