   29 years.  Through years of lost contact, through miles that were never traveled, and through some pretty lean times that we shared together.  It's been a long and wonderful road that I imagine only has years and miles more to go.

   I met my best friend in kindergarten, 38 years ago. She's the only person I've kept in contact with continually since then. Although we live about 800 miles apart, we speak on the phone every few weeks.

   My longest friendship is still intact and running at 32 years with my mother.  Luckily for me, she was my first best friend and always will be.  My non family bestie and I have been "sisters" for 17 years and counting.

   I hope I can develop a friendship that lasts as long as half of you guys. My longest friendship was freshman to senior year of high school. We were the best of friends and we even lived together for awhile but it ended quite abruptly. I still miss her sometimes but I know it was for the best to just end it.

   Currently - almost 20yrs - and still going!
   Through alcholism (her), coming out (me), children, marriage and all the stresses of a couple of angsty teens - still going strong.
   
   It can be weeks between speaking to each other, but nothing changes!
