Is it rude for someone to try to dictate when their guest should leave?
I think in a way it is, but it really depends on why your trying to get guests to leave. If your trying to get Mike to leave 3 hours early because you don't like Mike and others can stay for 3 more hours that would be kinda rude. But say your children are trying to fall asleep and all your friends are drunk and loud, then asking them to leave wouldn't be rude at all. It all depends on the circumstances and the type of interaction/event your holding.
It is not rude if you have a reason for a guest to leave for example if you got to get up early the next day for work or have another planned engagement thy will understand.
