   Gullibility.  Believing an authoritative figure.  Also a 'we and them' philosophy, taught of course to one of immature mind and probably little exposure to any goodness.   Indocrination might be the right word.   Hazy promises of great reward for carrying out a terrorist deed: the kudos of people equally as sick of mind and unable to identify with Humanity at large.
   
   Fortunately such represent an extremely tiny fraction of the world population.  Changes in world spirituality (You'll note I did not say religion) will in all probability bring such madness to an end.

      Brilliant, Tom. Definitely gullibility. I wouldn't doubt that several layers above the gullible you'll find a CIA case officer or MI5 agent. Psychopaths running psychopaths.

   The core influence is self-concern -- EGO!
   
   Behind many (if not all) of the bombings, mass shootings, terrorism attacks, etc. have been psychopaths who were selfish and self-centered. These may have been religious leaders, CIA case officers, MI5 agents and the like.
   
   When a government can kill its own citizens in something like 9/11, they can do anything evil. They can plant saren gas in Syria to provoke public sentiment against the government there. They can stage more False Flag black ops to give us pretext for war (like the sinking of the Maine, Gulf of Tonkin, 9/11 and the like). Psychopaths love power and gravitate toward the seats of power. They are ruthless enough to do anything to get it; something a sane, loving individual would not do.
   
   They (the psychopathic elite) want world domination. Taking gullible fools to do crazy things is child's play to them. They talked Lee Harvey Oswald into covert ops and threw him away as an expendable patsy. E. Howard Hunt's deathbed confession should be an eye-opener for anyone critically interested in the motivations behind the events of history.
   
   The Rockefellers are a symbol of their lust for power and their willingness to commit horrific acts to get more of that power.

   It is both. If you live in a place where you are oppressed you will be more likely to want to do something crazy, and religion gives you the comfort to do it
