If you're not a believer how do you explain to your kids that you're sending their gifts back where they came from?
LOLOLOL
So - you have to believe in Jesus to give your children gifts at Christmas time? Do you have to not understand where the traditions of gift giving came from as well?
I mean - how ignorant do you have to be to join your Christian cult? Does it help to be completely uneducated? Will I be barred if I know about Sinta Klaas?
Well if that is your definition of a hypocrite, I am one.
How would you suggest I get my 6 grandchildren to allow me to forget Xmas?
It has been a social norm in my society forever to give gifts to little ones at least.
As for the rest of it, I do not indoctrinate my kids in any belief system.
I knew that would be tough to worm out of that one! You spoil them kids?
Hard to spoil kids! I love them and hug them and talk to them, (when I can get a word in) and yes, any excuse to light those eyes up!
I hear you brother! You gotta love those kids!
Do you have any ankle biters you borrow?
My niece has four and they struggle so we help out. I'm commonly known as Uncle Rick I'm totally selfish I get and give a attention! I tell stories that are not exactly true.
Not exactly true? I need lessons! I have a four year old who asks for proof!
I am totally selfish too. Who would not want the love of a child?
Hard to get a leg up with kids mentally. You have to get it right in their eyes. Not always easy.
My son's talking law school so I doubt we'll see much action from that direction for awhile. His Mom and I have kept him well threatened.
You guys are melting my cold heart.
Have a great holiday and give every one of those little folks an extra hug.
Extra hugs it is then.
I agree with your first post earnest.
XMas is for the little ones, whether you are a believer or not.
We had "assigned" a different family member to explain the different faiths we all have to my daughter as she grew. My plan was to let her learn from everybody and not push one belief over another. I wanter her to respect every point of view, and also have enough understanding to make her own choices.
I'm not sure if that would have produced an enlightened atheist or not.
My mom's plan for a Catholic daughter certainly backfired
Take it easy guys

A fine fellow posed a very interesting discussion today. You should visit his pages at http://zelkiiro.hubpages.com/ But I speak to something that came up there. Should religion interfere with straightforward empirical science and the logic and actions dictated therein. In my studies I read...

Two relatively similar people are presented with the Bible and the message of Christianity. Person one takes to it eagerly. Person two pushes it as far away as it will go. What is the difference between these two people? Lets add that the two people have identical upbringings, are the same sex,...

Can you explain your understanding of the Kingdom of God?I truely believe there are a large number of different understandings of what God Kingdom really is. I am wondering how many out there have the same understanding. What do you think God's Kingdom is and is not?

When one has to explain the religion to a "non believer" or new comer what is the best approach?to explain without scaring them off. There are so many negative things about our religion on the internet and to explain in reference to a person is difficult to me.

Why can't atheists and believers leave each other alone to not believe or believe? Why is it that atheists (not all, some) continuously question believers about their belief and vice versa; why do believers (not all, some) feel they have to justify their belief? Surely if you don't believe in God...
