The soul is a concept taken from old Greek, which means, "to breathe or the breath"

This meaning has been twisted by believers over the centuries to mean something completely different, which believers are still unable to explain or define, yet they believe in it wholeheartedly. smile

yes, I'd like them to define a soul...in their own words, without regurgitating bible verses

They may or may not have, but what is a soul anyway? It's like asking if animals have flasperence? What's the point if no one knows what flasperence is?

Animals  have instincts, not soul. There is no rational part of them.
Genesis 2:7   And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
This means both inner man and outer flesh. The outer flesh became known as shem, translated, name. Hence we all have names. The inner man is the personality, desires and intangible workings of a person. Soul in hebrew is accounted to the inner person and the outer, it is one vessel working uniquely.
After jesus' time and originating with the roman "period of intellectualism" the soul takes on a new meaning. The soul becomes independant of the body and has an awareness and its self becomes an entity responsible for the attitudes of its husk.
Where as before all of man was left in the grave, outside of the OT just the body lays in the grave and the soul departs.
Being as animals are not like us in desires, nor do they think like us it is safe to conclude that we are different. While the animal waits for the highest impulse to distinguish its action and thus it acts accordingly to that strongest impulse, we humans can temper our thoughts and actions and act as we wish to act or pick a best route of action, we have choice.
Also being as God is the judge of our lifes conduct we are different to animals in that we will suffer judgment, animals will not. Therefore when we live on earth in afterlife, our pets will not be with us, which is good because i am petting tigers! instead of kitty kats. Also if you look at the multitude of just say cats that have been born over the, oh roughly, 4000 yrs. (i personally, much to my chagrin and thanks to a stray mom have ushered in 30 cats in three years of 2 litters per year) I would think that our earth would be overpopulated and heaven itself with these animals. Then add, dogs, horses, sheep, cattle, (well, sheep are okay lol)

Mankind is not superior to nature, the earth and its creatures but instead we are simply one of the many parts, both seen and unseen that combine to make the whole.   As Chief Seattle said; "We do not own the earth, we are part of it."

An animal spirit guide can be useful.  smile

mankind sure kicks natures roots! mankind is superior to all forms of life in nature. Look how we manipulate nature, indeed we are killing it completely.
As for rank.. angels, man, animals, nature.
animals will not be resurrected, people will because they are different and because of that difference they are more important. Animals will not be judged, animals cannot invite god into their lives to work on their sanctification.

        spirit guide not biblical.

    "do animals have soul?..your views?"

I can’t speak to souls; but some animals absolutely, positively have self-awareness.

And a Happy Thursday everyone. smile

    Do animals have soul?..your views?

They may have souls; but they do things intuitively and cannot much distinguish between good or bad or good and evil and hence they are not subject to any accountability as would the souls of the human beings. Animals are not to be held accountable for their deeds by the Creator-God Allah YHWH on the Day of Judgment.
