   Ethernet is communication standard for transferring data between two networking devices. It comprises of the physical layer, which are the typical Cat 5 cables used for connection, fiber cables can also run on Ethernet standard. The other layer is the datalink layer which has signaling standards for transfer of data on Ethernet.
   
   Internet on the other hand is a collection of all the world networks connected together using different technologies and are able to communicate through each other. Its just like a giant web of nodes (PCs,servers etc) connected with each other all over the world.

   Ethernet is a standard of communication - in simple terms - a way to connect to another computer using ethernet compliant cables, which have 8 wires and an RJ45 connector. one machine on the network will require a modem or router to connect to the internet and share it's connection with the rest of the computers on the network as well as manage incoming and outgoing traffic ... this is normally done by a server with the help of some advanced routers.
