How are you handling the upcoming planned deletion of igoogle by google?
So, I spent HOURS today trying to get myself used to not using my igoogle page which google says will be scheduled to be obsolete in November 2013, or so. All I wanted was to establish a google chrome page with a nice little "to do" list on the home page. I changed the theme 5 dozen times and STILL don't like it as much as my igoogle page. PLUS, I was able to access "Sticky Notes" whose icon shows up on my opening page, but you have to click on it to view your list. With igoogle my list showed right on the igoogle page, and that's not the only complaint!
I am one of the lucky ones, I'd never heard of iGoogle. I hate it when things I am relying on - and have built my life around - cease to exist. At least with Google you have plenty of warning and won't be waking up to a crashed empire that needs sorting out immediately!
I hope you find another suitable platform to use instead.
E, THANKS! Love ur comment "I hate it when things I am relying on - and have built my life around -cease to exisit". That certainly has a DOUBLE meaning for me in my life!-a perfect metaphor. And I did find another suitable platform n married him:)
I also had never heard of iGoogle. But yes, at least you've gotten plenty of warning. Sounds like you'll have to get used to something a bit different than your ideal situation, but you'll find something, and who knows you may grow to like the new one even better!
I can't believe that I'm among the few who uses it apparently. How did THAT happen? You're right. I have to get used to something a bit different (That's what my counselor has been telling me for 20 years about my life - HA!)
I don't use iGoogle either, but my guess is that "Big G" will provide a substitute for iGoogle functionality before they 86 it this Fall. Some Google news stories seem to support this assumption: http://arstechnica.com/business/2013/04 … iting-for/
I can't believe Google wouldn't want to keep you hooked in with some sort of personalized homepage app. My guess is they'll roll out a replacement for iGoogle sometime this summer.
D. Thanks! I think I know why. It's the application for the mobile devices. From doing my website, I can see that it works better if your have those squares and click on them than having a google web page that's individualized. I'll chk your link.
I never used igoogle and I think that could be the reason for it being phased out by Google. But I always keep a back up of everything owned by me on the web or elsewhere. It keeps me free of worries of alternatives.
Never heard of igoogle so its no big lost for my part. I do share your frustration getting use to something and finding out it will no longer be available is really a PITA.
The good news is that you will get over it Its not a question if you can but it is a matter of that you must.
I realized that this afternoon. It's very weird how we get attached to the way something is laid out on the web. It changes; we change - kinda like life. Thank you Cebu...
Looks like too many people have never heard of it-- I'm another one, but I'm sure there must be alternatives.
I used a money management/ tracking program on my old Mac for years. I knew it well. When it became obsolete, it was a chore trying to find something else. I now like the Neat program-- and hope it stays around.
I'm looking for a program that will GIVE me money TO manage, Rochelle (tee hee). I really don't know how I got igoogle, but it's so CUTE and I LOVED it. All my favorite quotes are right on the opening page and they change each day. Oh well.

Hello,I want to take down my content and delete my account. I would much rather my articles be on my own website than here, where they're not making any money. If I delete my account, how long will it take for the URLs to stop showing up on Google (cached pages and such), and I can use the articles...

Has your question ever featured on the first page of google?

I am experiencing an overall average off 66 percent less page views per day, for seven days versus a week previous and for the past two months. Such a huge drop in page views makes me think that Google has tuned up something again. I do know that I don't have the time and energy to keep...

Without having to sift through pages and pages of search results, is there a way to find out where your article/keyphrase is in the search engine?

So I was bored and decided I would Google some of the topics of a few of my most recent hubs... Two of them popped up on the FIRST PAGE!! WHHHHHAAAAATTT?!??! lol. Sorry, I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place for this, but I almost swallowed my own tongue I was so excited and I need to tell...
