Have you ever experienced discomfort when using your laptop ?
When my laptop is on my lap I usually have it sitting on top of a book or something else to keep the fan's heat away from me. But I started experiencing discomfort in my side and then later in my leg on the side where the laptop fan is. My safety measures don't seem to be working or could it just be something else. I have no health issues to put it on.
I have this problem in my back when I lay in the bed and use the laptop to read or write. After 30 minutes of being in the same position my back starts to hurt. If I still stay in that position the pain spreads. Stretching or moving to the desktop helps.
Although I feel for you (so to speak) it is good to know that I am not alone, I was beginning to believe that I am just getting old.
I never experienced this problem with my laptop. If I'm wearing shorts and use it on my lap, I always cover my legs with a blanket as this prevents the heat from burning my skin. And I don't need a blanket while I'm wearing jeans. Try using a thick blanket as this might help you, make sure the blanket fully covers your legs. If your laptop is excessively hot all the time then it maybe a virus or a application using system resources. And there are some models of laptops which generate more heat than others.
And generally large laptops are more comfortable and easy to use than their smaller counterparts.
Thank you so much, I will take your advice.
How long do you sit with the laptop? Maybe a short walk around the block a couple of times per day will help.
You are probably right because I usually sit for hours, I have been on my laptop for about 3.5 hours already.
Nope. I use my breakfast tray as a desk for my laptop. I keeps it from over heating and gives me the proper support I need even in bed because it's not actually on my lap. And, if I have a lot of typing to do ... I use one of my desktop computers and wrist guards.
This is a good idea, but I never heard of a wrist guard. That sounds like something that I may need to invest in.
Walgreen sells them. It's actually called a Wrist Brace. There is a place for your thumb to fit into and it wraps around your wrist to give you support.
I'm not so sure about the fan and whether or not if that's leading to your discomfort in your side and leg. Like a breakfast tray, there are those trays with padding that quite often college kids will use to put their laptops on when not sitting at a desk or table. I'm at a desk for the majority of the day and I got a 3ft back roller that I do stretches with. I'm not sure if that will help you out or not, but it's certainly helped my back out a lot!
I have started just sitting it on a table, that has brought me a lot of relief. I think my biggest problem was that I'm lazy and like sitting on the couch in comfort as opposed to sitting at a table.

Have you ever experienced a 'frozen shoulder'?Do you have any 'secret recipe' to make it better? It is not a sport injury. I do my workout often, but now, the range of motion of my left shoulder is not 100 % anymore. It is sometimes awfully painful too... and it is since around 10-12 months... Grrr.
