1. Zuma beach: Zuma beach is located in Malibu and is excellent for swimming and surfing. Zuma beach is one of the largest beach park in los angeles county. Zuma beach has plenty of restrooms, lifeguards, playgrounds, volleyball courts, and snack bars. Miles of sand make it a family friendly beach in los angeles.

2. Venice beach: Venice beach offers white sandy beaches, palm trees and boardwalk. Venice beach is a perfect place for biking, swimming, sunbathing, people watching, and roller blading making it is one of the best beaches in Los Angeles, California. The show's at its best at muscle beach, an outdoor gym where beautiful bodies pump iron and get tanned at the same time.

3. Leo carrillo state park: The beach is located 28 miles northwest of santa monica on the pacific coast highway. The beach has tide pools, and coastal caves. The park has 1.5 miles of beach for swimming, surfing, windsurfing, surf fishing and beachcombing. The park also features back-country hiking.

4. Paradise cove: Paradise Cove is a beach with a malibu trailer park that is equipped with ocean views, restaurant, tennis court, and a basketball court. Paradise cove is located just west of malibu. The beach offers swimming, fishing and diving.

5. Point dume: Point dume is a great spot for California whale watching from december to march. It is also home to rock climbing. Point dume offers plenty of activities including swimming, surfing, scuba diving and fishing. Hiking trails are also available making it another one of best beaches in Los Angeles.

Manhattan is a great place for picnics. There is also a marine studies lab and aquarium at the end of the pier is free to the public. It includes a shark tank, tanks with lobsters, baby sharks, and fish.
