Introducing Rojo...

Our New Community Engagement Platform!

We’re pleased to announce that our newest Arena Labs project, Rojo, launched on Monday, February 6th! Rojo is a community platform where our users can discuss, engage with, and (eventually!) share the content that matters most to them. Our mission is to connect our audience to the biggest stories and trending topics across our network and leverage the high volume of traffic across our sites to enhance our community.

To start, Rojo is enabled on the news articles on PetHelpful, Dengarden, and Exemplore. Additionally, it is enabled on the evergreen (non-news) articles on Delishably, so if you have any questions about, reviews of, or praise to give certain recipes you've tried, now's your chance to share them!

The articles will act as the top of the funnel to engage readers, and then invite readers to join the conversation on Rojo using prominent calls to action at the top and bottom of the article. From there, our goal is to capture comments and facilitate engagement across our content.

How It Works

  1. User lands on an article headline and clicks “Join the conversation” or “Read # comments."
  2. User is taken to Rojo platform.
  3. User creates a Rojo profile and is able to leave their own comments, reply to existing comments, and explore more articles.

In this first phase, our main goal is to capture text comments and see how we can facilitate conversation amongst our audience. Once we have an understanding of how users engage on the Rojo platform, we will invite users to also share their own images, videos, and content. We hope to enable Rojo commenting and feeds on other evergreen HubPages sites in the future, but we have not yet determined a timeline for this.

Frequently Asked Questions

Since Monday's announcement, there have been lots of questions from the HubPages community regarding the function and purpose of Rojo. Below is a list of frequently asked questions, as well as some more information about the HubPages forum.

5 Rojo FAQs

Where is Rojo currently enabled?

News articles under PetHelpful, Dengarden, and Exemplore. On Delishably, Rojo is enabled for the evergreen (non-news) articles written by HubPages community authors, which differs from the other three domains.

How do the "news articles" differ from other content? Who writes the news articles?

News articles mainly cover trending content and social media stories, and they are written by an in-house editorial team. News articles cover a different area of Google, particularly news algos and Google Discover.

Is Rojo replacing the forums?

Rojo is not meant to replace the forums. It's meant to be an article-specific feed where audiences can find new pieces to read and comment on.

Are authors notified when they receive comments on their articles?

Authors aren't notified at this time, but that's a feature we're interested in adding.

How will this benefit HubPages authors?

The hope is that Rojo will provide an improved commenting experience for readers and authors–specifically for the articles on Rojo that are written by HubPages community authors.

While it’s early in the testing phase, our hope is that Rojo will provide an improved commenting experience for readers and become a source of traffic for authors by offering an easy way for audiences to discover evergreen content on our sites.

We hope to enable Rojo commenting and feeds on other evergreen (non-news) HubPages sites in the future, but we have not yet determined a timeline for this.

The HubPages Forum

To read more about Rojo, check out the forum post where a similar announcement was made. This is a good place to pose your own inquiries and find answers to other questions that have been asked. Our team is working to read and respond to comments in this forum, so keep an eye out for updates.

In the meantime, we hope you enjoy this new update to our HubPages interface, and thank you for your engagement in our ever-evolving community! Happy writing!
