I just bought my first puppy. At 8 weeks I bathed him and used my sons johnson's & johnson's...

tearless. It's been a week and he still itches. I will use wipes until a month passes, and then I will buy a natural, oatmeal, with aloe puppy shampoo, but what should I do to relieve the itching I've caused.

Just buy the medicated shampoo, and  bathe him again. There's really no reason to bath an 8 week old puppy though, so keep that in mind. Check to make sure that the puppy doesn't have fleas, as that could cause the itching, as well.

There is every reason to bathe an 8 wk old puppy. We all know that puppies are messy creatures. Rebathe the puppy immediately with the oatmeal shampoo and rinse very thoroughly till there are no bubbles left coming off of him. Do not bathe him more than once a week after that and when he's no longer a messy monster child, baths should be monthly, but no more than every other week as excessive bathing will dry out the skin. If your puppy has dandruff you can use human Head and Shoulders shampoo, which also kills fleas!! I have a hub on this very subject if you would like detailed info on bathing and shampoo selection you can come to my profile. Good luck!
