What breed of dogs do you have or have you owned? Any favorite breed?
Great Danes, Austrailian Shepards, Austrailian Cattledogs.
I like the cattledogs I have right now, high energy, smart and very atheletic.
Danes are cool, shepards are pretty sweet.
I've had Chow-Chow, Shih Tzus, Schnauzer, Pomeranian and my favorite seems to be Shih Tzus, since consistently, I have one with us. Prefer to have dogs in-house, so bigger ones are out for us.
I grew up with Australian Cattle Dogs. My father has a Cardigan Welsh Corgi, and my boy is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
I'm not really a fan of the Cardigan, but I don't consider her representative of the breed, and I've met other Cardis that I adored. But of those two, Pems are definitely more my type. They're very sharp and so easy to work with as they want very much to please, and they're very affiliative. They're also total clowns.
I absolutely loved the cattle dogs, but we had a lot of difficulty with them. They just weren't suited to our family at all, or the environment. I hope to have one (or more) in the future. They're a complex dog with a lot of drive, energy and intensity, which is precisely why I like them, but it wasn't something my father was able to deal with.
I've got a 'bucket list' of dogs I want to have during the course of my lifetime. I think there are at least a dozen breeds on there. Haha.
My favorite bred are Shih Tzu's. I have had my Clancey for 11 years. I love the personality. Clancey can tell you exactly what he wants and how he feels with his eyes. The eyes speak.
He also snores like a sailor. The Shih Tzu rarely barks although quite territorial.
