What kind of dogs do you have & how's they get their names?
I used to have some West Highland White Terriers. Their names were Bobby and Nessy.
Roxie and Lexi. Roxie is a Basset Hound and Lexi is a Boglen Terrier. Their previous owners gave them their names. Lexi's real name is Alexis.
I have one mutt and one stray. I checked on a vet on the stray that had a collar and the owner had just dumped her so she already had a name. I named my other one myself.
We currently have two yorkshire terriers. My husband has always been a big dog kind of guy and swore we'd never have a small dog. We have had a sheepdog named Dudley for Dudly do right, only he never did do anything right and dumb as a post. Then we got a Newfoundland-the breeders had named him Goliath (he was the biggest of the litter) and so we agreed. We moved and sold him to people with land and a female Neuf (I think they were hoping for puppies). We later purchased a great Pyrenees and my husband named him Samson - no reason just looked like a Sam. Then he broke down and one Christmas bought me our first yorkie. I think our daughter named him- Jack-same reason as the pyr. We gave sam away because we moved - yet again- Jack attached himself to Chris (husband) so he bought Joey for me. He's kind of a duffess looking guy and Chris said he could see the crowd screaming "joey, joey, joey". Chris says that Jack is the best dog he has ever had, and he is special although I'm particular to my little dumb dumb, Joey, joey!
We have a poodle and a half. After we had to put Taffy to sleep (I have a hub "In memoriam Taffy"), my wife wanted to get two dogs. I got to name one of them, so the male poodle/shih-tzu mix is Woofgang, which seems a perfect dog name for a classical music lover. She recycled a name for the purebred poodle, Suzy. She always called the other Suzy SuzyQ, so this one is Suzy Belle any time we have to make a distinction. Woofgang and Suzy: Double Trouble. Hmm. sounds like a hub title some time!
We have recently "adopted" a Siberian Husky mix from a rescue shelter.I am a believer in letting the dog have whatever name she already has.Th shelter had named her.Our previous dog was also a Husky mix and her name was suggested by a shelter woorker who said she was a lady. so we named he Lady.
We have two dogs....a Shih Tzu named "Calamity Lucille" and a Yorkie named "John R. Cash". Calamity Lucille otherwise referred to as "Callie" was named after Calamity Jane and Lucille Ball...both of which seem to fit her tom boyish playful personality. John R. Cash was named for one of my musical heroes and we just call him "Cash" or "Cash Money". They are the best of friends and we love them dearly. I refer to them as the dogs we named after a Chinese Quik-Mart....you know, "Cash & Callie". WB

How do you pick names for your pets?We had some unusual names for our pets when I was a kid (my brother named one cat "Mody" because the cat sounded like its 'motor' was running when it purred. Any cute stories about pets' names in your household?

I have always had a thing about names for my pets, I like them to be unusual and to fix the animals also I am superstitious about naming an animal after the deceased, each time I did (only a couple of times) I lost that animal. Below are some of the names of some of my pets. Feel free to add to...

What are the funniest actual names you have ever heard? What are some truly awfully funny names you have ever heard. One of my favorites is Young Boozer. The only rule for answering this question is the name has to belong to a real person, no made up names please!
